Stranger Things: Tales From ’85 Animated Series Announced

Stranger Things: Tales From ’85 brings fans back to Hawkins with a new animated series in 2026 as the original characters face chilling winter mysteries and terrifying new monsters.

Something strange has survived in Hawkins. Netflix has officially announced Stranger Things: Tales From ’85, a brand-new animated series arriving in 2026, bringing fans back to the chilling world between seasons of the hit show. The announcement dropped in celebration of Stranger Things Day—November 6, the date Will Byers disappeared in 1983—and marks an exciting new chapter for the beloved franchise.

Set during the stark winter of 1985, Stranger Things: Tales From ’85 follows the original characters as they face terrifying new monsters and unravel a paranormal mystery threatening to tear their town apart. Though animated, the series promises the same emotional stakes, supernatural suspense, and nostalgic charm that made Stranger Things a global phenomenon.

The series is led by showrunner and executive producer Eric Robles. Executive producers also include creators Matt Duffer and Ross Duffer and Hilary Leavitt through Upside Down Pictures, along with Shawn Levy and Dan Cohen via 21 Laps. Animation will be handled by Flying Bark Productions, bringing Hawkins to life in a bold new visual style.

A new voice cast will bring the iconic characters to the screen. Brooklyn Davey Norstedt voices Eleven, Jolie Hoang-Rappaport plays Max, Luca Diaz is Mike, Elisha “EJ” Williams portrays Lucas, and Braxton Quinney takes on Dustin. Ben Plessala voices Will, while Brett Gipson steps in as Hopper. The additional cast features Odessa A’zion, Janeane Garofalo, and Lou Diamond Phillips in undisclosed roles.

This animated adventure expands the Stranger Things universe while honoring its roots. Fans are encouraged to link back to www.netflix.com/StrangerThingsTalesFrom85 for more details and updates.

The announcement arrives alongside worldwide celebrations of Stranger Things Day. Each year on November 6, fans commemorate the moment the story began—with Will’s disappearance in Hawkins—and share their love for the series. With a freezing Hawkins winter, new horrors, and familiar heroes, Stranger Things: Tales From ’85 is shaping up to be a must-watch when it hits Netflix in 2026.
