New Freakier Friday Trailer Shows Four-Way Body Swap Chaos

The new trailer for the upcoming Freakier Friday reveals Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan swapping bodies again—this time with her daughters involved too.

The body-swapping fun is back—and freakier than ever.

Freakier Friday has unveiled its official trailer, reuniting Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan more than two decades after their hit 2003 comedy Freaky Friday. The new film picks up years later, with Jamie Lee Curtis returning as mom Tess Coleman and Lindsay Lohan reprising her role as daughter Anna, now all grown up and navigating a wedding, step-parenting, and yes—another unexpected switcheroo.

Anna is busy planning her wedding to Eric, played by Manny Jacinto, while trying to balance her own daughter (played by Julia Butters) and soon-to-be stepdaughter Lily (Sophia Hammons), who do not get along. The tension boils over hilariously in the trailer when Anna’s daughter mockingly writes wedding vows calling Lily “a little demon thing with an obnoxious accent.”

But things get weirder—and wilder—after a visit to a fortune teller, played by Vanessa Bayer, during Anna’s bachelorette party. Bayer ominously predicts the blended family is “called to be family” and warns Tess and Anna that another lesson may be coming their way. Cue the lightning.

This time, the body-swap chaos isn’t limited to just two people. A supernatural jolt causes a four-way switch, leaving Anna and her daughter in each other’s bodies, and Tess and Lily swapped as well. Bayer’s mystical voice sets the tone: “Change the hearts you know are wrong, to reach the place where you belong.”

The trailer teases plenty of mayhem, including a plan from Lily (while inside Tess’s body) to break up Anna and Eric and reunite Anna with her old flame Jake, played once again by Chad Michael Murray. His return is capped with a dramatic entrance on a motorcycle, bringing the nostalgia full circle.

While Jacinto and Maitreyi Ramakrishnan are not seen in the trailer, sharp-eyed viewers spotted a brief cameo from Elaine Hendrix, Lindsay Lohan’s co-star from The Parent Trap (1998).

Freakier Friday also stars Rosalind Chao, Mark Harmon, and Vanessa Bayer, with Nisha Ganatra directing. The film is based on the beloved novel Freaky Friday by Mary Rodgers.

Kristin Burr, Andrew Gunn, and Jamie Lee Curtis serve as producers, with executive producers Lindsay Lohan, Nathan Kelly, and Ann Marie Sanderlin also on board.

Set to the beat of Chappell Roan’sHOT TO GO!,” the trailer promises a hilarious and heartfelt summer adventure when Freakier Friday hits theaters August 8.
