Pulitzer Prize winning composer, Lin-Manuel Miranda, known for blending diverse musical genres and storytelling, is poised to surprise audiences yet again! Here are some of his exciting upcoming projects to look forward to.
Almost ten years ago, Lin-Manuel Miranda revolutionized Broadway with the premiere of Hamilton, a musical that redefined the genre with its fusion of hip-hop, history, and storytelling. Since Hamilton, Lin Miranda contributed to the polish on the lyrics for the musical New York, New York, inspired by the 1977 film directed by Martin Scorsese. Lin-Manuel Miranda also made his directorial debut with Netflix’s Tick, Tick…Boom!, starring Andrew Garfield, and created the soundtracks for Disney animated movies Moana and Encanto, the live-action Little Mermaid, and more.
After all the great work, what’s next for Lin-Manuel Miranda? Here are three exciting projects to look forward to.
Warriors Concept Album
In August, Lin-Manuel Miranda announced the release of a new concept album inspired by the 1976 film The Warriors. The 26-track album, set to release on October 18th, is executive produced by Grammy-winning rapper Nas and produced by Grammy-winning musician Mike Elizondo. In this album, Lin-Manuel Miranda partnered with Eisa Davis to reimagine the cult film, which follows a street gang as they fight to survive a dangerous night in New York City after being framed for a crime they didn’t commit.

Mufasa: The Lion King Soundtracks
Although it is confirmed that Lin-Manuel Miranda will not be back in Moana 2, he is involved in Disney’s upcoming musical film Mufasa: The Lion King and will compose six songs for the prequel.
During the Fast Company Innovation Festival on September 18th, Lin Miranda revealed that he wanted to join as soon as he knew Barry Jenkins is the director. “That’s sort of like Greta Gerwig directing Barbie,” he added.
Mufasa: The Lion King traces the origins of Mufasa, delving into his childhood with his brother Taka, who is later known as Scar, and Mufasa’s rise to power. The movie will be available in theaters on December 20, 2024.
