Netflix Releases First Look At Boots Series

Netflix releases the first look at Boots, a coming-of-age comedic drama starring Miles Heizer and Vera Farmiga set in the 1990s Marine Corps.

Netflix has released the first look at its upcoming one-hour comedic drama Boots, which will premiere globally on October 9, 2025. The eight-episode series dives into the grueling and unpredictable world of the U.S. Marine Corps in the 1990s, blending humor, heart, and coming-of-age storytelling in a time when being gay in the military was still against the rules.

At the center of the story is Cameron Cope, played by Miles Heizer, a directionless, closeted young man who enlists in the Marines alongside his straight best friend Ray McAffey (Liam Oh), the son of a decorated Marine. Together, the pair join a diverse group of recruits and must navigate both the physical challenges of boot camp and the emotional tests of identity, friendship, and resilience.

The ensemble cast also includes Vera Farmiga as Barbara Cope, Max Parker as Sergeant Robert “Bobby” Sullivan, Cedrick Cooper as Staff Sergeant Marcus McKinnon, Ana Ayora as Capt. Denise Fajardo, Angus O’Brien as Thaddeus Beau Sterling Hicks, Dominic Goodman as Isaiah Nash, Kieron Moore as Nicholas Slovacek, Nicholas Logan as Sergeant Cary Wayne Howitt, Rico Paris as Santos Santos, and Blake Burt as John Bowman. Additional cast members include Brandon Tyler Moore, Zach Roerig, Anthony Marble, Joy Osmanski, Ivan Hoey Jr., Logan Gould, Jack Kay, Troy Leigh-Anne Johnson, Jonathan Nieves, and Brett Dalton.

The show is inspired by Greg Cope White’s memoir The Pink Marine and comes from creator and co-showrunner Andy Parker (Tales of the City, Imposters) and showrunner Jennifer Cecil (Umbrella Academy, One Tree Hill). Executive producers include Parker, Cecil, legendary television producer Norman Lear, and Brent Miller through ACT III Productions, along with Rachel Davidson, Scott Hornbacher, and Peter Hoar (episode 101). The series is produced by Sony Pictures Television for Netflix.

Speaking about the experience, Miles Heizer reflected on both the intensity and camaraderie of the project: “Boots was easily the hardest and most fun thing I’ve ever been a part of. The show is interesting because it manages to find the humor in a very intense experience, which is the only way to live, in my opinion! It’s also rare in that it’s 50% acting and 50% actually struggling through training and DI screams.”

Heizer also praised the bond that developed among the cast: “Due to the group nature of boot camp, we were essentially together all day, every day of filming and got incredibly close. In a way, the show sort of mirrors our real experience of meeting, coming together, and forming a very deep bond by the end. I truly feel a phantom boot camp connection to all of these boys.”

Looking ahead to audiences discovering the show, he added: “There really isn’t another show like Boots. It’s very funny, uplifting, and has a particularly great soundtrack. You’ll laugh, you’ll cheer, and, I’m sorry, but you’ll probably cry as well.”

Boots premieres October 9, 2025, only on Netflix.
