Jeremy Allen White Channels Springsteen In Biopic Trailer

Jeremy Allen White is bringing Bruce Springsteen to life in the trailer for Deliver Me From Nowhere, a biopic focused on the making of Nebraska.

Bruce Springsteen’s rawest, most intimate album is getting the big-screen treatment — and Jeremy Allen White is stepping into The Boss’s boots.

In the just-released trailer for Deliver Me From Nowhere, fans get their first look at Jeremy Allen White’s hauntingly authentic take on Bruce Springsteen as he creates his stark 1982 masterpiece Nebraska.

Best known for his Emmy-winning performance in The Bear, Jeremy Allen White ditches the kitchen for the studio, singing, strumming, and even playing harmonica as he dives into Springsteen’s world. The trailer showcases him performing the title track from Nebraska as well as “Born To Run,” giving fans a taste of both the quiet introspection and the anthemic energy that define Bruce Springsteen’s sound.

The film zeroes in on a pivotal moment in Bruce Springsteen’s career — when, instead of following up his hit single “Hungry Heart” with more radio-ready rock, he holed up in his New Jersey bedroom and recorded Nebraska, a bleak, acoustic collection of character studies.

Jeremy Allen White, 33 — the same age Bruce Springsteen was when he recorded Nebraska — immersed himself in archival footage to master the singer’s gravelly voice and animated stage presence. “It’s been really fun preparing,” Jeremy Allen White told GQ, adding that watching clips of Bruce Springsteen from different eras became a nightly ritual.

Bruce Springsteen himself visited the set regularly and gave Jeremy Allen White his seal of approval, calling him “a terrific actor” who “sings very well” and offers a take on him that fans “will deeply recognise.”

While Jeremy Allen White’s physical resemblance to Bruce Springsteen has sparked debate among fans, the early response to the trailer has been largely positive. “I got quite emotional watching the trailer,” wrote one viewer. Another said, “That last shot on stage is what sold me!”

Director Scott Cooper, who previously helmed Crazy Heart, said he aimed to recreate Nebraska’s haunting tone on film, with an emphasis on authenticity and emotional truth. The trailer captures that brooding vibe — from Springsteen writing alone on his bedroom floor to a shot mirroring the album’s bleak cover photo.

“This is not about the charts,” says Jeremy Strong, playing manager Jon Landau in the film. “This is about Bruce Springsteen.”

Adding further emotional depth to the project is Stephen Graham, who plays Bruce Springsteen’s father, Dutch. Stephen Graham, fresh off Netflix’s Adolescence, shared that Bruce Springsteen sent him a touching message after seeing an early cut of the film. “His text just said, ‘I felt like I saw [my father] today. Thank you for giving me that memory.’”

Odessa Young co-stars as Bruce Springsteen’s love interest Faye, while Paul Walter Hauser plays his guitar tech Mike Batlan.

Deliver Me From Nowhere is set to hit theaters in October, positioning it squarely in awards season territory. With last year’s Bob Dylan biopic A Complete Unknown earning multiple Oscar nods — and the Michael Jackson biopic delayed — Jeremy Allen White’s Bruce Springsteen turn could be the one to beat.
