Ella Purnell has announced that Fallout season 2 has finished filming as the cast and crew gear up for a thrilling return to the wasteland in 2026.
The Fallout fandom is one step closer to heading back into the wasteland. Ella Purnell, who plays vault dweller Lucy, revealed via Instagram that Fallout Season 2 has officially wrapped filming. Her announcement included a heartfelt photo alongside her on-screen father, Kyle MacLachlan, marking the end of a production journey that began back in November.

With filming complete, fans can begin counting down the days until Fallout returns to Prime Video. If post-production follows a similar timeline to Season 1, viewers could expect a premiere sometime in spring or summer 2026.
The next chapter will pick up where the explosive Season 1 finale left off—at the Griffith Observatory, where Lucy, Brotherhood of Steel member Maximus (played by Aaron Moten), and The Ghoul, aka Cooper Howard (Walton Goggins), came together for a dramatic showdown involving the mysterious Moldaver (Sarita Choudhury) and cold fusion tech stored inside Siggi Wilzig’s (Michael Emerson) mind. Lucy was left reeling from devastating revelations about her father Hank’s dark past. The season ended with Hank escaping in power armor, seemingly headed to New Vegas, as Lucy and The Ghoul set off in pursuit.
Season 2 promises a deeper focus on both Lucy and Hank, as their paths intertwine in increasingly dangerous and emotional ways. The journey to New Vegas also teases a broader exploration of the chaos and conspiracies powering the post-apocalyptic world.
Game director Todd Howard has promised that Season 2 will do justice to the spirit of Fallout: New Vegas, the fan-favorite 2010 video game, while still carving out fresh storytelling paths. Set roughly 15 years after the events of New Vegas, the series continues to weave new characters and stories into the vast Fallout universe. According to show co-creators Graham Wagner and Geneva Robertson-Dworet, the goal remains to respect the source material while offering unexpected twists.
Walter Goggins recently told Complex that Season 2 takes the show “to a whole other level,” praising how the established tone allows the story to evolve in bold, unpredictable ways. “Now that people understand what the world is, this story just takes it to a whole other level,” he said. “It stays in these lanes of the tone that was kinda set but also veers outside of them in the most interesting ways.”
The upcoming season is also expected to introduce new characters, including Macaulay Culkin, who joins the cast as a “crazy genius-type character.” While more casting details are under wraps for now, fans can anticipate the return of many Season 1 favorites, including Moisés Arias, Leslie Uggams, Frances Turner, Dave Register, Zach Cherry, Johnny Pemberton, Rodrigo Luzzi, Annabel O’Hagan, and Xelia Mendes-Jones.
Though an exact premiere date hasn’t been announced, anticipation is already building. Season 1 of Fallout is currently available to stream on Prime Video, so there’s still time to catch up—or rewatch—before Season 2 drops.
Stay tuned for more updates as Fallout prepares for its highly anticipated return to the wasteland.
