Prime Video has released the first teaser for the We Were Liars series, starring Emily Alyn Lind, with all eight episodes premiering June 18.
Prime Video is turning up the heat this summer with the release of its highly anticipated teaser trailer for We Were Liars, the mystery thriller based on E. Lockhart’s best-selling novel of the same name. All eight episodes of the limited series will be available to stream starting June 18, 2025, exclusively on Prime Video in more than 240 countries and territories.
Set against the backdrop of a wealthy family’s private island off the New England coast, We Were Liars follows Cadence Sinclair Eastman and her close-knit group of friends—known as “the Liars”—through sun-soaked summers filled with secrets, privilege, and ultimately, tragedy. When a mysterious accident upends Cadence’s life, nothing is as it seems, and everyone—especially the Liars—may be hiding more than they let on.
Emily Alyn Lind leads the cast as Cadence Sinclair Eastman, joined by Shubham Maheshwari as Gat Patil, Esther McGregor as Mirren Sinclair Sheffield, and Joseph Zada as Johnny Sinclair Dennis. The adult ensemble features Caitlin FitzGerald as Penny Sinclair, Mamie Gummer as Carrie Sinclair, Candice King as Bess Sinclair, Rahul Kohli as Ed Patil, and David Morse as Harris Sinclair.
Behind the scenes, We Were Liars is in the expert hands of co-showrunners Julie Plec (The Vampire Diaries, Legacies) and Carina Adly MacKenzie (Roswell, New Mexico, The Originals), who both also serve as executive producers. Additional EPs include Emily Cummins (The Endgame, Vampire Academy), Brett Matthews (Legacies), Pascal Verschooris (The Vampire Diaries), and E. Lockhart, the author of the original novel. The series is produced by Universal Television (a division of Universal Studio Group) and Amazon MGM Studios.
With its lush setting, gripping mystery, and emotionally charged performances, We Were Liars is poised to be a buzzy binge-watch of the summer. Fans of the novel and newcomers alike can mark their calendars for June 18, when all eight episodes drop on Prime Video.
