The upcoming film adaptation, directed by Paul Feig, stars Sydney Sweeney as Millie Calloway, a young ex-convict who takes a job that quickly spirals into a nightmare.
The movie is set to premiere in theaters on December 19, 2025, just in time for holiday movie season. Fans got their first look at the tense drama when the official trailer dropped on September 16, offering glimpses of shocking confrontations, a police arrest, and a chilling cover of Sabrina Carpenter’s “Please Please Please.”
The Story
At the center of The Housemaid is Wilhelmina “Millie” Calloway (Sydney Sweeney), who takes a live-in maid position with wealthy Long Island couple Nina (Amanda Seyfried) and Andrew Winchester (Brandon Sklenar). Despite the grandeur of the Winchesters’ mansion, Millie is relegated to a small attic room, a symbolic reminder of her outsider status.
As she settles into her role, Millie begins to suspect that all is not well in the Winchester household. Secrets unravel, tensions mount, and her decision to stay in the job leads to increasingly dangerous consequences.
