Swiftie’s React To Taylor Swift’s Directorial Announcement & ‘All Too Well: The Short Film BTS’!

Taylor Swift’s All Too Well: The Short Film was just one of many examples of Taylor’s directorial genius, and after the release of a “behind-the-scenes” look at the making of the short film and the announcement that she’s doing a feature, Swifties have a ton to say!

All Too Well: The Short Film is neither simply a music video nor merely a short film, but rather an incredibly well-made combination of the two. Taylor Swift recently released a behind-the-scenes look at the making of the film, focusing specifically on Taylor’s directing of her actors and crew. This was very timely, as there was a recent announcement that Taylor will be making her feature film directorial debut with Searchlight Pictures. The content of her film is currently unknown, but with the All Too Well BTS out alongside this announcement, Swifties are reeling! Here are some fan reactions to both the BTS video and the announcement.

It’s truly wonderful that we live in an age where someone can wear many different storytelling hats, and we all know Taylor is more than capable!

These screencaps are amazing! You can tell how overjoyed she is to be in the director’s chair and the sheer focus she’s providing on the project as well. It’ll be interesting to see what behind-the-scenes pictures we get from her feature film project.

You heard it here, folks! Not only will Taylor be directing this new project, but she’ll also be writing the screenplay for it! This is not entirely surprising, as she has written the script for many of her music videos as well, including All Too Well: The Short Film–apart from that kitchen scene, which was all improvised by the amazingly talented actors. To see Taylor take charge of a project like this is so exciting and inspiring to so many; it’s clear as day.

So exciting to see Oscar-winning director, Guillermo Del Toro, supporting his fellow artist in this way! Taylor’s a huge fan of his work, as are many, so it’s amazing to see that such accomplished directors are being supportive of her new creative journey into filmmaking.

Ah yes, the many hats of Taylor Swift. It’s easy to forget that someone so accomplished is just a person at their very core, so it’s nice to see that Swifties remember the human that is Taylor, not just the artist/celebrity that is Taylor. It’s sweet!

Currently, there are only 7 women in history to have ever won an EGOT, otherwise known as winning an Emmy, a Grammy, an Oscar, and a Tony. Those women are Helen Hayes, Rita Moreno, Audrey Hepburn, Whoopi Goldberg, Barbra Streisand, Liza Minelli, and Jennifer Hudson. It would be amazing to see Taylor win an Oscar and a Tony; that’s all she has left to win, after all!

Gatekeeping in the film industry isn’t surprising, but it is disappointing. Women have a difficult time breaking into directing as it is with that gatekeeping in place, and with all of Taylor’s success as a serial storyteller, I encourage readers to be excited for another woman to have the opportunity to break the proverbial glass ceiling. It’s good to see Swifties and non-Swifties both recognizing Taylor’s achievements in directing and excited to see more from her–as we all should be!
