Sebastian Stan is reportedly eyeing a role in The Batman Part II, potentially joining Robert Pattinson and Scarlett Johansson in the highly anticipated DC Studios sequel.
Sebastian Stan may soon be trading the Marvel Cinematic Universe for Gotham City. The actor is reportedly in talks to join The Batman Part II, the upcoming DC Studios sequel starring Robert Pattinson as the Dark Knight.
If the deal comes together, Stan would reunite with Avengers co-star Scarlett Johansson, who is also linked to the feature. DC Studios declined to comment on the casting discussions.
Matt Reeves is returning to direct the sequel and co-wrote the script alongside Mattson Tomlin. The film is currently aiming to begin production in May as it builds on the dark, grounded world introduced in 2022’s The Batman.
Stan’s career spans film and television, including roles in I, Tonya and The Apprentice, as well as the limited series Pam and Tommy. However, he is best known for his 15-year run in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Bucky Barnes, also known as the Winter Soldier. He first appeared in Captain America: The First Avenger in 2011 and went on to reprise the role in multiple Captain America films, Avengers: Infinity War, Avengers: Endgame, and the Disney+ series The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. Most recently, he appeared in Thunderbolts and is set to return in Avengers: Doomsday this December.
The original The Batman debuted in March 2022 and grossed $770.3 million worldwide. Its success led to the Max spinoff The Penguin, starring Colin Farrell, who is expected to return for the sequel. The first film’s ensemble also featured Zoë Kravitz as Catwoman, Jeffrey Wright as Jim Gordon, Paul Dano as the Riddler, Andy Serkis as Alfred, and Barry Keoghan as an Arkham Asylum inmate with possible Joker ties.
As casting continues to take shape, The Batman Part II appears poised to expand its roster with another high-profile addition, further raising anticipation for the next chapter in Reeves’ Gotham saga.
