Netflix has released new teaser art for Monster: The Ed Gein Story, the third installment in Ryan Murphy and Ian Brennan’s acclaimed anthology series. The limited series premieres globally on the streaming platform Friday, October 3, 2025.
The upcoming season dives into the disturbing true story of Ed Gein, the rural Wisconsin recluse whose twisted crimes reshaped American horror. From the outside, Gein seemed like a quiet, mild-mannered man living on a decaying farm in the 1950s. But behind closed doors, he was a serial killer and grave robber hiding a house of horrors so grotesque it would shock the world and redefine the American nightmare.
Gein’s obsession with his mother, his isolation, and his descent into psychosis gave rise to crimes so perverse that they became the foundation of Hollywood’s most terrifying fictional villains. His influence stretched from Psycho to The Texas Chainsaw Massacre and The Silence of the Lambs, establishing him not just as a criminal but as the blueprint for modern horror.
Monster: The Ed Gein Story explores how an unassuming man from Plainfield, Wisconsin became one of history’s most infamous ghouls. The series promises to peel back the layers of his life and crimes, revealing a haunting truth — monsters aren’t born, they’re made, shaped by the world around them.
The creative team behind the series brings major pedigree. Monster is created and executive produced by Ryan Murphy and Ian Brennan, who also serve as writers, with Brennan directing key episodes. Additional executive producers include Max Winkler, Eric Kovtun, Scott Robertson, Nissa Diederich, Louise Shore, Carl Franklin, and Charlie Hunnam.
Directorial duties are split between Ian Brennan (episodes 304, 305) and Max Winkler (episodes 301, 302, 303, 306, 307, 308).
The star-studded cast is led by Charlie Hunnam, Tom Hollander, Laurie Metcalf, and Suzanna Son, with additional roles played by Vicky Krieps, Olivia Williams, Lesley Manville, Joey Pollari, Charlie Hall, Tyler Jacob Moore, Mimi Kennedy, Will Brill, and Robin Weigert.
Following the anthology’s previous success, Monster: The Ed Gein Story is being billed as the darkest, most harrowing chapter yet. With its chilling subject matter and high-profile creative team, the series is expected to spark both conversation and controversy when it debuts.
Monster: The Ed Gein Story premieres globally on Netflix October 3, 2025.
