Netflix’s The Crown is set to premiere its sixth season next month! Here’s everything we know so far about the final season!

The critically acclaimed show is sadly coming to an end, however, the sixth season is going to be broken up into two parts. A teaser trailer dropped on October 29th where it announced the premiere dates. Here’s everything we know about the series!

The Plot

The official plot of the show has not been revealed yet. What we do know is that this season will be set from 1997 to 2005. It will focus on the tragic death of Princess Diana of Wales and the early relationship between Prince William and Kate Middleton. In addition, the premiership of Tony Blair and the wedding of Prince Charles and Camilla Parker Bowles.

Cast

The cast that are reprising their roles from the fifth season include Imelda Staunton as Queen Elizabeth II, and Jonathan Pryce as Prince Philip, Elizabeth’s husband. Additionally, Lesley Manville as Princess Margaret, Elizabeth’s younger sister, Dominic West as Prince Charles, and Olivia Williams as Camilla Parker Bowles. Then, of course, Elizabeth Debicki will return as Princess Diana, Charles’s ex-wife. The newcomers for the season are Ed McVey as Prince William, Meg Bellamy as Kate Middleton, and Bertie Carvel as Tony Blair, the Prime Minister who was promoted to the main cast.

Teaser Reactions

The teaser trailer announced the first part will release four episodes on November 16th and the remaining six episodes on December 14th. A TikTok user who reacted to the date announcement said she is very excited and hopes that this season will be portrayed in a way that will be sensitive to royal members since Queen Elizabeth passed last year. The majority of TikTok users are ecstatic about this upcoming season and urge their followers to start watching this show if they haven’t already!

Where We Left Off

The fifth season ended with Tony Blair becoming Prime Minister and Prince Charles heading to Hong Kong. When he comes back to the UK, he has a heated exchange with his mom, Queen Elizabeth about the monarchy, since they both have differing views on it. We see Princess Diana take her children on a holiday trip to St. Tropaz, organized by Al-Fayed, this is where she grows closer to Dodi Fayed. At the very end, the Royal Yacht Britannia is decommissioned and the final shot is the Queen walking through the hallways as she gets ready to say goodbye to it. This shows how the Queen is preparing to grapple with the changes in the monarchy.
