Marvel’s highly anticipated animated series, Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man, has already been greenlit for a third season—despite the series not yet premiering. The announcement comes just days before the show’s debut on Disney+ on January 29, 2025.
The series, previously titled Spider-Man: Freshman Year, follows Peter Parker’s journey to becoming Spider-Man, with Hudson Thames voicing the iconic character. It will launch with its first two episodes and features a talented supporting cast, including Colman Domingo, Charlie Cox, and Kari Wahlgren.
The exciting news of the renewal was shared by Marvel’s Television and Streaming head, Brad Winderbaum, during a recent appearance on The Movie Podcast. Brad Winderbaum expressed his deep connection to the series, revealing, “I’m head over heels in love with these characters.” He also highlighted the creative work of showrunner Jeff Trammell, noting, “What Jeff is building brick by brick in this show starts to pay off.”
Brad Winderbaum shared updates on the progress of Season 2, which was greenlit back in 2022, saying scripts have been completed and animatics are underway. He also teased the development of future seasons, explaining, “The connection with these characters gets deeper and deeper in subsequent seasons.”
The surprise announcement of a Season 3 renewal underscores Marvel‘s confidence in the series. Brad Winderbaum added, “In a couple of weeks, I’m gonna hear [Jeff Trammell’s] pitch for the third season of the show, and I’m like a fan—I can’t wait.”
Fans can look forward to diving into Peter Parker’s animated adventures when Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man premieres on Disney+ later this month, with an exciting future for the series already in motion.
