The renewal comes on the heels of Emily in Paris season five’s impressive performance on the streamer. In just 11 days, the latest season amassed 26.8 million views worldwide, debuting at No. 2 on Netflix’s Global Top 10 English TV list. Season five reached the Top 10 in 91 countries and claimed the No. 1 spot in 24 of them, including France, Italy, Brazil and Germany.
Across five seasons, Emily in Paris has consistently captured international attention, with every installment appearing on the Global Top 10 English TV list for multiple weeks. Beyond ratings, the series has fueled fashion trends, memes, tourism and location visits, drawing audiences into Emily Cooper’s chic and aspirational life abroad. The show even leaned into its cultural footprint during the Olympics with promotional moments that positioned Emily as the ultimate American in Paris.
The series continues the legacy of creator Darren Star, whose signature storytelling has previously defined cities through television, including New York with Sex and the City and Los Angeles with Beverly Hills, 90210 and Melrose Place. With Emily in Paris, Star has brought Paris into the pop culture spotlight in a similarly influential way.
Star’s impact was recently recognized on an international level when he was awarded the Chevalier de la Légion d’Honneur, France’s highest civilian honor, by French President Emmanuel Macron. During the ceremony, President Macron praised the series as a love letter to France, noting that it inspires millions to visit the country and allows residents to see its beauty through fresh eyes. Star described the honor as deeply emotional, calling France an essential part of his creative journey and expressing gratitude for the warmth with which his work has been embraced.
Season five’s debut was celebrated in signature Emily in Paris style. Lily Collins, Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu, Ashley Park and Star traveled to the Paris world premiere at the Grand Rex theatre aboard the iconic Venice Simplon-Orient-Express. The cinematic journey concluded with a surprise musical performance from Ashley Park, featuring songs from the series, including the fan-favorite “Mon Soleil.”
All episodes of Emily in Paris season five premiered on December 18, 2025. The season follows Emily as she takes on her new role as head of Agence Grateau Rome, navigating professional ambitions and romantic complications while adjusting to life in a new city. As work setbacks and personal secrets threaten her stability, Emily confronts conflict head-on, emerging with stronger relationships, renewed clarity and a readiness to embrace what comes next — a journey that will now continue into season six.
