Where the Members of Fifth Harmony are Now!

Fifth Harmony was one of the top girl music groups during the 2010s for their messages regarding women’s empowerment and body positivity. After a 6-year run, remaining members, Camilla Cabello, Normani, Lauren Jauregui, Ally Brooke and Dinah Jane, decided to go their separate ways to pursue solo careers.

Hailing from Miami, FL, Fifth Harmony (5H) was one of the most notable Pop and R&B music groups within this century. After their run of competing on The X Factor in 2012 being the last contestants to be eliminated, they signed a joint record deal with Simon Cowell’s record label, Syco Music and L.A. Reid’s label, Epic Records. This propelled the girl group towards an increased engagement and formation of their fan base Harmonizers as well as the release of original songs in 2015.

Fifth Harmony was admired for their messages on feminism and body positivity, which was bolstered by the diversity among members in their group. From hit singles like “Work From Home” (featuring rapper, Ty Dolla $ign) (2016) and “Worth It” (featuring rapper, Kid Ink) (2015), the girl group won a series of awards including ten Teen Choice Awards, five Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards, four MTV Video Music Awards, four iHeartRadio Music Awards, three MTV Europe Music Awards and an American Music Award. In pursuit of solo careers, the girl group came to an end in 2018 when its four remaining members decided to part ways. Here’s an update of what each former member has been up to since taking their leave from the group.

Camilla Cabello

Camilla Cabello was one of the first to leave as she embarked on her solo career. Following her exit in December 2016 Cabello has released three studio albums: Camila (2018), Romance (2019) and Familia (2022). In addition to these accomplishments, Camilla has an impressive string of top-ranking songs which she collaborated on with other artists. Earning her first number one spot on the Billboard 100 list is Cabello’s hit “Havana” (featuring Young Thug) which was released in August 2017. The song gained even larger attraction after her performance at the opening of the 61st Grammy Awards in 2019. The singer was then nominated for two Grammy’s attributed to the song and her remarkable performance alongside Young Thug, Ricky Martin and J Balvin. This performance also pronounced Cabello as the first Latina artist to open the Grammy’s.

Another one of her most prominent musical collaborations was with her former partner and singer, Shawn Mendes. The pair first released “I Know What You Did Last Summer” (2015) marking the beginning of their professional and personal relationship. The duo then released the 2019 summer hit “Senorita”. Holding the top spot in over 30 countries, the hit single also earned a Grammy nomination.

Cabello also starred as a coach for the 22nd season of The Voice mentoring aspiring artists as they navigate developing their passion for singing into a professional career. On top of her incredible contributions to the music industry, Cabello has also expressed an interest in acting as she appeared in an adaptation of Cinderella in 2021. Cabello received high ratings for her performance making everyone wonder about her next film appearance. (99 & 100).

Cabello has recently released the hit single “I Luv It” (featuring Playboi Carti) on March 27, marking it as the lead song on her upcoming album C, XOXO which is set to release in a few weeks on June 28! (post)

Normani

Normani started her solo singing career making history as one of the first artists to sign to Keep Cool/RCA Records before having released her premiere solo album. One of her most notable songs thus far which was her first single without a featuring artist was “Motivation” (2019). The song reached the top 40 chart rankings and was accompanied by a stellar music video with top-notch dancing comparable by critics to Michael Jackson, Janet Jackson and Britney Spears.

Another song of prominence within her repertoire is “Wild Side” (featuring rapper, Cardi B) reaching number 1 on the Mainstream R&B/Hip-Hop chart.

She has also collaborated on numerous works during her solo career including a two-song EP with Calvin Harris titled Normani X Calvin Harris (2018). She was also featured on Sam Smith’s “Dancing With a Stranger” reaching top 10 in multiple countries. Additionally, Normani has appeared on the soundtrack of a couple movies including Charlie’s Angels (2019) where she sang “Bad to You” alongside singer, Ariana Grande and rapper, Nicki Minaj ; as well as “Diamonds” with Megan Thee Stallion on Birds of Prey (2020).

She is also an incredible dancer lighting up every audience or camera she performs for with her remarkable talents. The star was honored at the 2021 BET Soul Train Music Awards for Best Dance Performance recognizing her hit-single “Wild Side”. Normani has made quite the name for herself during her solo career as she was even named in the Forbes 30 Under 30 list for 2020. Lauren Jauregui

After Fifth Harmony’s disbandment in 2018, Lauren Jauregui reported in an interview with MTV News that she wanted to focus on reconnecting with her musical roots exploring several genres of interest including electronica, pop, rock and Latin music. Jauregui continues to discuss her songwriting process revealing that writes all of her music.

She released her premiere single as a solo artist “Expectations” with a music video in October 2018. Jauregui also recorded her first EP In Between (2023) including “Always Love” which critics and fans say is her most emotional and raw ballad that she has sung throughout her entire career on her public breakup with Ty Dolla $ign.

Jauregui continues to authentically express herself through her music as a vocal advocate for LGBTQ rights. She released “Burning” (2024) which she described on EVEN Music as “an ode to my queerness and the unapologetic nature with which I embrace it regardless of my Catholic upbringing.” She came out as bisexual in 2016 and has spoken out in support of the community on a number of occasions. Notably, she wrote a love letter to Donald Trump voters during former POTUS Donald Trump’s campaign. Given several discriminating remarks Trump has made about people who identify similarly to Jauregui, the singer felt it was important to voice her confidence and pride in her identity as a bisexual female Cuban-American artist.

Ally Brooke

Ally Brooke signed a record deal with Latium Entertainment and Atlantic Records in 2018, only a few months after Fifth Harmony broke up. She released a new Spanish song called, “Vámanos” which she had collaborated on with producing trio, Kriss Kross Amsterdam and rapper, Messiah. Dinah Jane

Finally, there is the lovely Dinah Jane who announced a solo record deal with Hitco Entertainment, continuing her relationship with one of its founders L.A Reid in August 2018. The following September, she released her first solo single, “Bottled Up” (featuring Ty Dolla $ign and Marc E. Bassy). The star performed the single on Jimmy Fallon’s late night show and released its music video during October 2018.

Jane performed her new song “Retrograde” at the Jingle Bash in December 2018 and formally released the single in March 2019. Soon after she released her debut solo self-titled EP, Dinah Jane 1 in April 2019. She hit the ground running after the unfortunate conclusion of Fifth Harmony with these previous works not even reflecting everything she had done. Jane ended up taking a break from recording and performing for more than three years making her comeback in August 2023 with her single, “Ya Ya”. Jane has collaborated with other artists including singer, JKING for their single “Falling in Love ” released in September 2023 and singer, Myshaan for a remix of his song “Sway” in February 2024.

The most remarkable collaboration Jane has had during her comeback would be with fellow Fifth Harmony member Ally Brooke marking the first musical collaboration among members since the girl band’s 2018 hiatus. Jane and Brooke sang a cover of “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas” appearing on Brooke’s 2023 holiday EP. The pair also performed the song together on the Kelly Clarkson Show on December 21, 2023! (57)
