Whether you’re looking for a gripping docuseries, hilarious stand-up, or a highly anticipated superhero return, there’s something for everyone on the platform this month.

Headlining the month is the debut of Marc Maron: Panicked, the comedian’s second HBO original special, premiering August 1. In this introspective yet witty set, Marc Maron takes on the chaos of modern life with his signature blend of humor and honesty.

Also premiering August 3 is the chilling HBO original documentary series The Yogurt Shop Murders. This four-part series revisits the horrific 1991 murders of four teenage girls in Austin, Texas, and dives deep into the complex investigation and the families forever changed by the tragedy. Directed by Margaret Brown and produced by A24, the series includes first-hand interviews with law enforcement, the victims’ families, and even two men who once served time for the crime.

On the sports side, August 5 kicks off Hard Knocks: Training Camp with the Buffalo Bills, the latest installment of the acclaimed documentary series. This season follows star quarterback Josh Allen and the rest of the Bills’ roster as they prepare for the upcoming NFL season, offering unprecedented access to the team’s training camp in New York.

For action fans, Peacemaker returns for its second season on August 21. James Gunn pens all eight episodes, and John Cena reprises his role as the reluctant antihero navigating an alternate world and confronting his past. Episodes will drop weekly at 9:00 p.m. ET.

Cinephiles can look forward to an exciting slate of films. First up is Freaky Tales (August 8), a Lionsgate release set in 1987 Oakland with a powerhouse cast including Pedro Pascal, Tom Hanks, and Normani. Then on August 15, A24’s fantasy epic The Legend of Ochi debuts, following a young girl’s emotional journey to reunite a baby creature with its kind. Rounding out the movie lineup is the highly anticipated Final Destination: Bloodlines, a reboot of the classic horror franchise that delves into a family curse and a haunting recurring nightmare.

HBO Max will also add dozens of classic and fan-favorite titles throughout the month, including The Peanut Butter Falcon, The Nun (2018), Kung Fu Panda 2, and Martha Marcy May Marlene. New TV content includes seasons of Abbott Elementary, The Cleaning Lady, and plenty of Discovery Channel and Food Network offerings.
