Thora Birch says she’s “super open” to returning for Hocus Pocus 3 and wants to find out what happened to Dani Dennison decades later.
Thora Birch may be ready to light the Black Flame Candle once again. The actress, who played Dani Dennison in Disney’s original 1993 cult classic Hocus Pocus, revealed that she’s “super open” to returning for Hocus Pocus 3 as development on the third installment continues.
“Yeah, I’d like to know what they land on for how Dani wound up. I’m super open to the idea,” Birch told Entertainment Tonight. “They love talking about this stuff, so we’ll see.”
Fans have been eager to see Birch reunite with her former co-stars Omri Katz and Vinessa Shaw, who played her brother Max and his crush Allison in the first film. The trio spent Halloween night saving the children of Salem, Massachusetts after accidentally awakening the witchy Sanderson sisters from their 300-year slumber.
While Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Kathy Najimy reprised their roles as Winifred, Sarah, and Mary Sanderson in the 2022 Disney+ sequel Hocus Pocus 2, the original trio of mortal heroes—Birch, Katz, and Shaw—were notably absent.
Last week, Midler offered a promising update about the upcoming third film, revealing that she’s read the script and found “a lot of it was brilliant,” though “all those logistical things” still need to be worked out before production can officially begin.
After reprising her role as the formidable Winifred in Hocus Pocus 2, Midler and her co-stars helped the long-awaited sequel become a major streaming hit, setting a Disney+ record with 2.7 billion minutes viewed in a single week.
Following that success, Sean Bailey, President of Walt Disney Studios Motion Picture Production, confirmed that Hocus Pocus 3 is officially in development—giving fans hope that some familiar faces, including Birch’s Dani, may return to Salem once more.
