Selena booked her first role in 2002 on the children’s television series Barney & Friends at just ten years old. She played Ginna for almost two years alongside her soon-to-be Disney Channel co-star, Demi Lovato.

Before Selena was the star of Disney Channel, she landed guest appearances on The Suite Life of Zack & Cody and Hannah Montana in 2006.

A year later, she landed the iconic role of Alex Russo on Wizards of Waverly Place for the show’s four-season run and in Wizards of Waverly Place: The Movie in 2009.

Selena also began her film career with Disney by starring in Another Cinderella Story (2008) and The Princess Protection Program (2009) with Demi Lovato.

Selena Gomez & The Scene formed in 2008 and would go on to produce major hits, including “Love You Like A Love Song,” “Round And Round,” and “Who Says.”

The band would also produce an album per year from 2009 until they separated in 2012. Their albums include Kiss & Tell, A Year Without Rain, and When the Sun Goes Down.

After she departed from Disney, Selena returned to acting in larger-scale films. She starred in comedies like Ramona and Beezus (2010), Monte Carlo (2011), and Spring Breakers (2012).

She also showed her range by taking on more mature roles, starring in the indie film The Fundamentals of Caring (2016) and the rom-com A Rainy Day in New York (2019).

In 2013, Selena released her debut solo album, Stars Dance, which includes the hit single “Come and Get It.”

Two years later, at 22, she released her album Revival, which gave us “Hands to Myself” and many more pop hits.

After a five-year break from music, she released yet another album, Rare, which features the song “Lose You to Love Me.”

Executive Producing

Taking a break from the music scene, she returned to television behind the scenes and became the executive producer of Netflix’s award-winning hit 13 Reasons Why (2017). Thereafter, she returned to film acting and landed many more roles, including a voice-acting role as Mavis Dracula in the animated film series Hotel Transylvania.

She created her cooking show Selena + Chef, which aired on Max in 2020. The show has four seasons and showcases Selena’s cooking skills as she tackles new cuisines and learns from master chefs.

In 2021, she took on her first scripted television role since her Disney Channel days as Mable Mora in Hulu’s Only Murders in the Building. She is also one of the show’s executive producers alongside Martin Short, Steve Martin, and many others.

Rare Beauty

In 2020, Selena launched her makeup line, ‘Rare Beauty.’ The brand is vegan and cruelty-free and aims to break down unrealistic standards of perfection.
