Peacock Unveils Trailer For Devil In Disguise Series

Peacock releases trailer and new images for limited crime drama Devil in Disguise: John Wayne Gacy, with all eight episodes streaming October 16.

Peacock has dropped the official trailer and new images for its chilling upcoming limited series Devil in Disguise: John Wayne Gacy. The eight-episode crime drama will premiere in full on October 16, with all episodes available to stream the same day.

Based on one of the most infamous true-crime cases in American history, the series revisits the horrifying crimes of John Wayne Gacy. Between 1972 and 1978, Gacy kidnapped, murdered, and buried 33 young men beneath his home’s crawl space — all while maintaining the appearance of a beloved community member. He worked a steady job, was considered a local leader, and even volunteered as a clown to entertain sick children. Devil in Disguise: John Wayne Gacy pulls back the curtain on his seemingly ordinary life, examining the disturbing duality of his public persona versus his hidden brutality.

Beyond detailing Gacy’s atrocities, the series shines a light on the devastating impact felt by victims’ families and friends. It explores their grief, guilt, and lasting trauma while exposing the systemic failures, missed opportunities, and societal prejudices that allowed Gacy’s reign of terror to go undetected for so many years.

The limited series is steered by showrunner, writer, and executive producer Patrick Macmanus (Dr. Death, The Girl From Plainville). Additional executive producers include Noah Oppenheim (The Maze Runner, Jackie), Sarah Bremner, and Liz Cole (John Wayne Gacy: Devil in Disguise, The Thing About Pam) for NBC News Studios, alongside Ashley Michel Hoban (Dr. Death, The Girl From Plainville), Ahmadu Garba (Dr. Death, Halo), and Kelly Funke for Littleton Road Productions.

Behind the camera, the series features an impressive roster of directors: Larysa Kondracki (episodes 101, 106), Ashley Michel Hoban (episode 102), Maggie Kiley (episodes 103, 104), Bille Woodruff (episodes 105, 107), and Patrick Macmanus (episode 108).

The cast includes Michael Chernus (Severance, Dead Ringers), Gabriel Luna (The Last of Us, Terminator: Dark Fate), James Badge Dale (Savant, 1923), Michael Angarano (Oppenheimer, This Is Us), Chris Sullivan (This Is Us, Mercy), and Marin Ireland (The Irishman, The Umbrella Academy).

Produced by UCP, a division of Universal Studio Group, the series was filmed in Toronto, Canada. Devil in Disguise: John Wayne Gacy is positioned as both a psychological portrait and a searing critique of systemic blind spots, offering viewers an unsettling but vital look at one of America’s most notorious serial killers.

All episodes of Devil in Disguise: John Wayne Gacy will be available to stream exclusively on Peacock starting October 16.
