Netflix renews One Piece for season 3 ahead of its 2026 season 2 debut and releases a first look at the Straw Hats’ perilous Grand Line journey.
Netflix gave One Piece fans plenty to celebrate during this year’s annual One Piece Day in Tokyo, Japan, delivering a double dose of exciting news. The hit live-action pirate adventure series has been renewed for a third season well ahead of its season two debut in 2026, and fans got their first glimpse at what’s to come when Monkey D. Luffy and the Straw Hat crew set sail for the dangerous and legendary Grand Line.
The first look at season two teases higher stakes, stranger destinations, and even more formidable enemies as Luffy and his friends embark on their next chapter. This time, their journey will take them through the unpredictable Grand Line — a mythical stretch of sea where wonder and peril are around every turn, bringing bizarre islands and fierce adversaries into their path.
Season three will begin production later this year in Cape Town, South Africa, with Ian Stokes joining Joe Tracz as co-showrunner. For season two, Matt Owens and Tracz serve as co-showrunners, while Eiichiro Oda, Marty Adelstein, Becky Clements, Tetsu Fujimura, Chris Symes, Christoph Schrewe, and Steven Maeda return as executive producers.
Based on Eiichiro Oda’s record-breaking manga — Japan’s highest-selling series of all time, with over 500 million copies sold worldwide — Netflix’s One Piece has been a global phenomenon since its 2023 debut. The series spent eight weeks on Netflix’s Global Top 10, hit #1 in over 75 countries, and made history as the first Netflix English-language series to debut at #1 in Japan. With nearly 100 million views and a spot among Netflix’s most downloaded shows of all time, One Piece has cemented itself as a fan-favorite.
The adaptation has also been recognized critically, earning 11 nominations at the Children’s & Family Emmy Awards, including Outstanding Young Teen Series. Off-screen, the franchise continues to expand with immersive fan experiences at Netflix House and themed merchandise from LEGO, Moose Toys, and more, available worldwide.
With the Grand Line ahead and a new season already on the horizon, One Piece shows no signs of slowing down — promising more adventure, more heart, and plenty of high-seas thrills for years to come.
