Netflix drops the chilling first trailer for Monster: The Ed Gein Story, the third installment in Ryan Murphy and Ian Brennan’s anthology series.
Netflix has unveiled the official trailer for Monster: The Ed Gein Story, the next installment in Ryan Murphy and Ian Brennan’s true-crime anthology series. The chilling new season debuts October 3, 2025, exclusively on the streamer.
A Horror Story Rooted in Reality
Set in 1950s rural Wisconsin, the series follows Eddie Gein, a seemingly mild-mannered recluse whose quiet life on a decaying farm hid a nightmarish truth. Behind closed doors, Gein committed unspeakable crimes of murder and grave robbing, creating a “house of horrors” that redefined the American nightmare.
Fueled by psychosis, isolation, and a disturbing fixation on his mother, Gein became one of history’s most infamous killers. His crimes went on to inspire some of Hollywood’s most enduring horror creations, influencing classics like Psycho, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, and The Silence of the Lambs.
As the series chillingly suggests, Gein didn’t just shape the genre — he became the blueprint for modern horror itself.
Behind the Series
Monster: The Ed Gein Story is created by Ryan Murphy and Ian Brennan, who also serve as executive producers alongside Max Winkler, Eric Kovtun, Scott Robertson, Nissa Diederich, Louise Shore, Carl Franklin, and Charlie Hunnam.
Ian Brennan directed episodes 304 and 305, while Max Winkler helmed episodes 301 through 303 and 306 through 308. Brennan also wrote the season.
Star-Studded Cast
The cast is led by Charlie Hunnam, Tom Hollander, Laurie Metcalf, and Suzanna Son, with additional performances from Vicky Krieps, Olivia Williams, Lesley Manville, Joey Pollari, Addison Rae, Charlie Hall, Tyler Jacob Moore, Mimi Kennedy, Will Brill, and Robin Weigert.
The series marks the third chapter in Murphy and Brennan’s Monster anthology, following the stories of other real-life criminals who shook American culture. This installment promises to be the most unsettling yet, exploring how one seemingly ordinary man became the embodiment of horror.
Monster: The Ed Gein Story premieres October 3, 2025, only on Netflix.
