Director Edgar Wright’s Scott Pilgrim vs The World is a cult classic. The feature was a staple for young adults in the 2010s and has launched several careers that have turned into mega-stardom. The movie was based on Bryan Lee O’Malley’s comic of the same name and garnered much critical praise for its visual style and humor. Now Netflix has brought in an anime version of the fan-favorite story, Scott Pilgrim Takes Off. The upcoming series is developed by O’Malley and BenDavid Grabinski while Wright serves as executive producer. It brings back the ensemble cast and seems like a lot of fun.

Plot

Following in on the footsteps of its predecessor, Scott Pilgrim Takes Off will see Scott falling in love with the mysterious Ramona Flowers. Though to date her, he must fight against her seven evil exes which complicates the situation. While the premise remains the same, the long format this time around will give characters a little more breathing room which will further be enhanced by animated visuals and power-packed performances.

The animated series brings back the entire voice cast of Scott Pilgrim vs The World including Michael Cera as Scott Pilgrim and Mary Elizabeth Winsted as Ramona Flowers along with Satya Bhabha as Matthew Patel, Kieran Culkin as Wallace Wells, Chris Evans as Lucas Lee, Anna Kendrick as Stacey Pilgrim, Brie Larson as Envy Adams, Alison Pill as Kim Pine, and Aubrey Plaza as Julie Powers. They are further joined by Brandon Routh as Todd Ingram, Jason Schwartzman as Gideon Graves, Johnny Simmons, Mark Webber, Mae Whitman, Ellen Wong, and Julian Cihi.
