The first trailer for The Cat in the Hat reveals Bill Hader’s chaotic take on the Dr. Seuss icon in Warner Bros’ animated feature debut.
Warner Bros. Pictures Animation is bringing one of the most beloved children’s book characters back to the big screen—this time, in animated form. The studio has just released the first official trailer for The Cat in the Hat, its debut full-length animated feature, with Bill Hader lending his voice to the mischievous feline.
Directed by Alessandro Carloni and Erica Rivinoja, this new take on The Cat in the Hat reimagines Dr. Seuss’ classic story with a modern twist. The film follows the irreverent Cat as he’s tasked by the I.I.I.I. (Institute for the Institution of Imagination and Inspiration, LLC) with brightening the spirits of two siblings, Gabby and Sebastian, who are struggling to adjust to life in a new town. It’s a tall order, and possibly the Cat’s final shot at redemption—especially if he risks losing his magical hat.
Joining Bill Hader in the voice cast are Xochitl Gomez, Matt Berry, Quinta Brunson, Paula Pell, Tiago Martinez, Giancarlo Esposito, America Ferrera, Bowen Yang, and Tituss Burgess.
The animated adventure is set to hit theaters and IMAX screens across North America on February 27, 2026, with international debuts starting February 25.
The Cat in the Hat marks a new chapter for the Seuss icon, whose legacy includes a 2003 live-action film starring Mike Myers, a 1971 CBS animated special from Chuck Jones, and appearances in children’s series like The Wubbulous World of Dr. Seuss and The Cat in the Hat Knows a Lot About That!
Now, under the animation banner of Warner Bros., this new version promises a vibrant, fantastical journey packed with humor, heart, and Bill Hader’s chaotic charm.
