Everything You Need to Know About ‘Dune: Part Two’!

We are long overdue for the second half of 2021’s sci-fi blockbuster, ‘Dune’! After being delayed in November 2023 by the SAG-AFTRA and WGA strikes, ‘Dune: Part Two’ finally arrives in theaters on March 1, 2024!

Plot

While the first movie covered half of Frank Herbert’s extensive novel, the follow-up will further explore the journey of Paul Atreides and his alliance with the Fremen against the oppressive Harkonnen. The sequel aims to take fans deeper into the novel’s mythos of Fremen culture, as Paul becomes more accustomed to their way of life, through Chani.

With growing anticipation for the battle of Arrakis, fans will witness Paul Atreides rise from the son of a slain duke, to the Fremen leader of prophecy Paul Maud’Dib.

Trailer

The most recent trailer takes fans back to Arrakis as we see Paul and Chani engaged in heavy romance, vivid action sequences between the Fremen and Harkonnens and sandworms ravaging the spice-laden, desert planet.

Cast and Crew:

Timothee Chalamet returns as Paul Atreides, joined by co-lead Zendaya as Chani. Following her brief introduction in part one’s latter half, Zendaya will have a more prominent role in the sequel as a love interest to Chalamet’s mythic hero.

Other returning stars include Rebecca Ferguson as Lady Jessica, Javier Bardem as Stilgar, Stellan Skarsgard as Baron Harkonnen and Dave Bautista as Glossu Rabban (‘The Beast’).

Most exciting of all are the newer faces among the cast, including Elvis star Austin Butler as Feyd Rautha, Florence Pugh as Princess Irulan, Lea Seydoux as Lady Margot and Christopher Walken as Emperor Shaddam IV.

Butler’s role as Feyd Rautha looks to be one his best, as the trailers show off the star in prosthetic makeup and engaged in fierce, hand-to-hand combat. Nephew to Baron Harkonnen and with a hatred towards the Atreides bloodline, Feyd Rautha was raised and trained to kill Paul under the direction of his sinister uncle.

The dagger-wielding Butler is sure to give a jaw-dropping performance and pose a real threat on the big screen!

Denis Villeneuve returns to direct the sequel and conclude the two-parter film adaptation of the 1965 sci-fi novel. Hans Zimmer also returns to compose the movie’s soundtrack and provide another pulse-pounding score that only he can!

Release Date

All eyes are on the highly anticipated Dune: Part Two, set for a worldwide release on March 1, 2024.
