Jack Black and Paul Rudd star in Anaconda, an original comedy adventure inspired by the cult classic, arriving exclusively in theaters on December 25, 2025.
This holiday season, a legendary jungle tale gets a wildly unexpected twist. Anaconda is slithering back onto the big screen as a brand-new comedy adventure, landing exclusively in movie theaters on December 25, 2025 — and this time, it’s not a reboot.
Billed as the comedy event of the season, Anaconda is an entirely original film inspired by the cinematic “classic” of the same name. The story centers on lifelong best friends Doug and Griff, played by Jack Black and Paul Rudd, who have spent years bonding over their shared dream of remaking their favorite movie. When a midlife crisis finally pushes them to stop dreaming and start doing, the duo heads deep into the Amazon to begin filming.
What starts as a comically chaotic movie set quickly turns into something far more dangerous. Their passion project spirals out of control when a real, massive anaconda appears, transforming their lighthearted adventure into a deadly situation. The movie they are desperate to make may end up costing them their lives.
The film blends comedy and adventure, leaning into over-the-top humor while raising the stakes in the unforgiving jungle. Alongside Black and Rudd, the cast includes Steve Zahn, Thandiwe Newton, Daniela Melchior, and Selton Mello.
Anaconda is directed by Tom Gormican, who also co-wrote the screenplay with Kevin Etten. The film is produced by Brad Fuller, Andrew Form, Kevin Etten, and Gormican, with Samson Mücke serving as executive producer.
The Motion Picture Association has rated the film PG-13 for violence and action, strong language, some drug use, and suggestive references. A final trailer is now available, teasing the outrageous journey ahead — and audiences are promised a special gift waiting at the end.
