5 Saoirse Ronan Film For Every Mood!

With Saorise Ronan being an actress since she was nine years old, it is safe to assume that there is a movie out there for just about any mood. With these films being available across multiple streaming platforms including Hulu, Apple TV+, and Netflix, there is something for everyone in her filmography.

The Lovely Bones

If you’re in the mood for something to absolutely scare the pants off of you then this is the film for you. Following a young girl, Susie Salmon, who has been the victim of a murder, the film takes place from her perspective as she watches over her family from purgatory and tries to help them figure out who took her life.

Even though The Lovely Bones is one of Ronan’s early films, it is a brilliantly scary film with many twists and turns along the way. Not only is the plot itself horrifying, but the sets, coloring, and acting all help to create an eerie feeling that follows the film through its insane finale.

The Grand Budapest Hotel

If you’re looking for an action-packed comedy, then The Grand Budapest Hotel is definitely the film you are looking for. This takes place within a high class hotel, namely The Grand Budapest Hotel, where a writer hears the life story of the owner who used to be a lobby boy.

This film is hysterical. With four Oscar wins under its belt, it is sure to be a great watch. In this film Saoirse Ronan plays the role of Agatha, a pastry chef, who has a relationship with one of the main characters, namely Moustafa. While her role is limited within the film, she is sure to make an impression while on screen. The performances coupled with the brilliant costuming, set design, and color palette makes for an unforgettable and hilarious viewing experience.

Brooklyn

Released in 2015, Brooklyn is the perfect film to watch if you are looking for something romantic and emotional. In this film, Saorise Ronan plays the leading lady, an Irish immigrant coming to America in the 1950s. After settling in Brooklyn, she meets an Italian man whom she falls in love with. She must decide to choose between her homeland and the life she built for herself in America.

This story is heartbreaking, and true for many Irish immigrants at that time. It is a beautiful period piece and truly captures the essence of Brooklyn during that time period as well as what it was like for immigrants arriving in America. The storyline between Saorise and her counterpart, Emory Cohen, is hauntingly beautiful. If you are looking for something to tug at your heart strings and make you believe in love this is the film for you!

Foe

Need a good cry? Then Foe is the movie for you. Taking place in a dystopian future, the story begins when the main characters Hen and Junior, played by Saoirse Ronon and Paul Mescal respectively, have their lives interrupted when a stranger turns up at their farm and offers Junior a job on a space station.

This movie has a complete twist that makes the movie all that more devastating. While the couple is having relationship issues from the beginning, the audience really is sucked into their lives and rooting for the couple. Paul Mescal and Saorise Ronan have so much chemistry, their relationship transverse through the screen. The dreary midwestern setting juxtaposed with the tense action within the film makes for a powerful storyline that will have you in tears by the end.

Lady Bird

Lady Bird is arguably one of Saorise Ronan’s most notable films to date. This coming of age story follows Christine, otherwise known as Ladybird, as she goes through her final year of high school. This movie tackles all sorts of relationships such as, mother-daughter, romantic, and platonic. With all of the complexity of plot beautifully placed within this film, it will have you reminiscing over your own time in high school.

The incredibly relatable storyline stands the test of time. Even if you have watched it before, Lady Bird is one of those films you can come back to and watch again. With multiple different perspectives weaved in throughout the course of the story, there is something for everyone of every age to relate to in this film.
