5 People Who Are So Close To Becoming EGOT Winners!

From Julie Andrews to Lin Manuel Miranda, we are sharing five people that are just one award away from claiming the coveted title of EGOT winner!

For those of you who don’t know, EGOT is an acronym for Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony and for someone to become an EGOT winner, they have to have received all four awards. Becoming an EGOT winner is no small feat. In fact, there are currently only 16 people who can say they’ve won an EGOT; but there are a ton of people who are just one award away from accomplishing this! Here are five people that we hope to see win their EGOT!

Audra McDonald

Audra McDonald is a Broadway legend! Fun fact, she has won six Tonys so far, which is the most by any performer. But she also won an Emmy in 2015 for a Live from Lincoln Center episode and has won two Grammys for her work on Rise and Fall of the City of Mahagonny in 2009. This means that she just needs an Oscar to complete the set of awards! Though Audra McDonald has not yet been in a lot of films, we have no doubt that she will one day win the last award to make her an EGOT winner.

Elton John

Who doesn’t love Elton John? The legendary musician has won 6 Grammys, 2 Oscars, and a Tony award so far. Pretty impressive if you ask us! All he has left to win is an Emmy. And though we know that winning that last award won’t be easy, we really hope to see Elton John take home that Emmy in the near future.

Julie Andrews

Julie Andrews has played all of our favorite characters, so it’s no surprise that she’s so close to becoming an EGOT winner. So far, she has won 2 Emmys, 2 Grammys, and an Oscar. All she has left is to win a Tony award. She’s come really close before, as she has been nominated for a total of three in the past. So our fingers are crossed that our queen Julie Andrews wins the Tony she deserves!

Viola Davis

Viola Davis has already made history in the award world! She has already won an Oscar, an Emmy, and two Tony awards, making her the first Black woman to win all three of those awards in the acting category. Now, she just needs a Grammy to become an EGOT winner. We are beyond impressed by her talent, so we really hope that we get to one day see Viola Davis take home the Grammy award.

Lin Manuel Miranda

Lin Manuel Miranda continues to amaze us with his talents. With all of the projects that he’s worked on, it’s not surprising that he is the proud winner of three Tony awards, three Grammys, and two Emmys. And he was really close to winning an Oscar in 2017. But he has a second chance at winning that award at this year’s Oscars, as his song “Dos Oruguitas” was nominated for Best Original Song. We’ll be tuning into the award ceremony on March 27 to see if Lin Manuel Miranda wins, which he would then become the youngest EGOT winner yet!
