There is no doubt Florence Pugh has taken the world by storm over the last few years. From starring alongside ScarJo, Harry Styles, Timothee Chalamet, and most recently, Morgan Freeman, the Oscar-nominated actress doesn’t plan on going anywhere. Today, we will be telling you about projects you can expect from her in the near future.
A Good Person
On March 24th, 2023, A Good Person was released in limited theaters, with the film being released nationwide on March 31st, 2023. The film, written and directed by Zach Braff, follows Ally (played by Pugh) as she handles the loss of those close to her due to an accident that also leaves Ally injured. Following this injury, Ally has become addicted to painkillers that she started taking for her injuries.
As the movie continues, you see how Ally and Daniel, who would have been Ally’s father-in-law, handle and connect through the tragedy. “The audience then can process how Trauma has its own karma, spreading across a family.” While this film came out a little less than a month ago, it is receiving many reviews.
Florence Pugh will be co-starring with Alexander Skarsgård, who is also set to direct on top of being Pugh’s co-star. The film was set to start filming in March of this year, and it “follows a group of documentarians who brave the remote wilderness of Alaska in an effort to save a nearly extinct species of wolves.”
After the crew is brought back at an award ceremony for their work, a deadly truth is brought to light, which brings tension to the group. The question to ask: the team was able to survive the harsh wilderness in Alaska but will their secret survive on one of the most important nights of their lives?
Pugh made her MCU debut as Yelena in Black Widow, and since then, she has been in the Disney+ MCU series, Hawkeye. Pugh will be back as Yelena in Thunderbolts, set to release on July 26th, 2024, which could change, but Julia Louis-Dreyfus, who will play Contessa Valentina Allegra de la Fontaine, says that filming will begin in June.
While there is not much information on the plot, we know the film will follow a brand new team of heroes which is made up of Yelena Belova, played by Pugh, Bucky Barnes, played by Sebastian Stan, Wyatt Russell will be playing US Agent, Hannah John-Kamen will play Ghost, and David Harbour will return as Red Guardian.
Pugh is one of the members of this A-list-filled cast, featuring Cillian Murphy, who plays Robert J. Oppenheimer, Emily Blunt will play Oppenhimer’s wife, Matt Damon will play General Leslie Groves Jr., Robert Downey Jr. will play Lewis Strauss, and Pugh will play psychiatrist Jean Tatlock.
The Christopher Nolan film is set for release on July 21st, 2023, and is based on the book American Prometheus, written by Kai Bird and Martin J. Sherwin. The story is told through the eyes of J. Robert Oppenheimer as he contributes to the creation of the atomic bomb.
Dune: Part Two
Set to release on November 3rd, 2023, the cast includes returning members, Timothee Chalamet, Zendaya, and Rebecca Ferguson, and adds Austin Butler, Pugh, and Christopher Walken. Pugh will be playing Princess Irulan Corrino in the sci-fi franchise.
According to Warner Bros. and Legendary, the synopsis reads: “This follow-up film will explore the mythic journey of Paul Atreides as he unites with Chani and the Fremen while on a warpath of revenge against the conspirators who destroyed his family. Facing a choice between the love of his life and the fate of the known universe, he endeavors to prevent a terrible future only he can foresee.”
Exciting news for Pugh as she is set to produce and star as Molly in this murder mystery for Universal Pictures. The feature is an adaptation of Nita Prose’s novel titled The Maid, which is about a hotel housekeeper who is seen as a primary suspect in the murder of a hotel guest.
The book, which was released in 2022, had the rights acquired by Universal way back in 2020. Other credited producers include Josh McLaughlin and Chris Goldberg, who are producing through their companies Wink Pictures and Winterlight Pictures. A release date has not yet been announced, but we cannot wait to see what Pugh brings to the world.
East of Eden
The Netflix series is an adaptation of John Steinbeck’s 1952 novel, East of Eden. In 1955, the book was adapted as a feature film, but this Netlifx adaptation will be a dramatic limited series. Zoe Kazan is writing and producing the miniseries, and a fun fact is that Kazan’s grandfather, Elia Kazan, adapted the 1955 feature film.
Pugh will be starring as Cathy Ames, and she is the only confirmed member of the cast. Kazan said, “Florence Pugh is our dream Cathy; I can’t imagine a more thrilling actor to bring this character to life.” Not a lot has been revealed about the series, but once production starts, we can assume more will be released. Pugh has a lot going on for her right now, so 2023 doesn’t look like the year for this release.
We Live in Time
After Flo and Andrew Garfield went viral for presenting at the Oscars on March 12th, a confirmation from POPSUGAR came out on March 14th that the duo will be co-starring in an upcoming project together. At this time, there have not been any other cast members confirmed. There is no official release date just yet, but it is confirmed that filming has already begun in London.
There has not been a lot revealed about the plot, but from the description, it is “a funny, deeply moving, and immersive love story.” Leah Clarke, Adam Ackland, and Guy Heeley are credited as producers, with Benedict Cumberbatch being credited as executive producer.
