The Rip First Look Reveals Star-Studded Netflix Cast

Netflix releases the first look at Joe Carnahan’s thriller The Rip starring Matt Damon, Ben Affleck, Steven Yeun and more ahead of its January debut.

Netflix is giving audiences a first glimpse at its upcoming thriller The Rip, unveiling a powerhouse cast and exclusive first-look photos. The film, written and directed by Joe Carnahan, is set to release globally on January 16, 2025.

Leading the ensemble are longtime collaborators Matt Damon and Ben Affleck, who also serve as producers alongside Dani Bernfeld and Luciana Damon. The cast continues to impress with Academy Award nominee Steven Yeun, multi-hyphenate star Teyana Taylor, Sasha Calle, Academy Award nominee Catalina Sandino Moreno, action standout Scott Adkins, and Emmy winner Kyle Chandler.

Carnahan, who also co-wrote the story with Michael McGrale, praised the authenticity the cast brings to the project. Speaking to Tudum, he shared:

“[They] all just show up and give you this wonderful sense of reality and authenticity. All the performances are wonderful. At some point you’re going to get your heart broken, you just don’t know by whom.”

The logline teases a tense and gritty narrative: when a group of Miami cops discovers millions in cash inside a derelict stash house, the team’s trust quickly unravels. As word of the discovery spreads and outside forces begin to close in, loyalties are tested and no one can be certain who to trust.

Produced under Artists Equity, The Rip also lists Kevin Halloran and Michael Joe as executive producers.

With its high-stakes premise, Carnahan’s signature storytelling, and a cast filled with award winners and fan favorites, The Rip is already shaping up to be one of 2026’s most anticipated Netflix releases.
