Netflix renews The Hunting Wives for season 2 with the original cast returning, continuing the hit series based on May Cobb’s bestselling novel.
Netflix is heading back to Maple Brook. The streamer announced today that The Hunting Wives has officially been renewed for Season 2, with the original cast set to reprise their roles. The Lionsgate Television and 3 Arts Entertainment series will return as a Netflix-branded show in nearly all countries where the platform is available.
Created by Rebecca Cutter and based on May Cobb’s bestselling 2021 novel, the first season premiered in the U.S. on July 21, exclusively on Netflix. Despite only being available domestically, The Hunting Wives quickly became a global hit, spending five weeks on the streamer’s global English Top 10 TV list and racking up over 20 million views in that period.
The success of the series also reignited interest in Cobb’s original book. Christine Ball, EVP & Publisher at Berkley, revealed that the title surged back into the spotlight after the show’s debut. Within one week, the trade paperback went back to press twice, while sales across all formats skyrocketed with a year-over-year increase of more than 5,000%.
Season 2 will continue the story with a fresh original script. The official logline teases: “At the start of Season 2, Sophie and Margo are on the outs. But soon enough, old secrets and new foes force them back together. As they play their dangerous games the question arises. Are they the hunters or the hunted?”
Returning cast members include Brittany Snow (X, Pitch Perfect), Malin Akerman (Billions, Watchmen), Jamie Ray Newman (Dopesick, Unspeakable: The Murder of JonBenét Ramsey), Dermot Mulroney (Anyone But You, My Best Friend’s Wedding, Chicago Fire), Evan Jonigkeit (Henry Johnson, Archive 81, Welcome to Chippendales), and George Ferrier (Sweet Tooth, Juniper).
Cutter, who serves as creator, showrunner, writer, and executive producer, shared her excitement about revisiting the darkly addictive world of Maple Brook. “I’m so excited to write these amazing characters again, and I can’t wait to take the audience on another sexy, twisted, batshit crazy ride through Maple Brook,” she said.
Executive producers on the series include Erwin Stoff for 3 Arts Entertainment and May Cobb herself.
With intrigue, betrayal, and simmering danger still at the heart of the story, Season 2 of The Hunting Wives promises to keep fans hooked on its provocative mix of mystery and melodrama.
