The Evolution Of Tate McRae’s Stardom!

In honor of announcing her Are We Flying Tour, here is a look at Tate McRae’s career so far!

Could you imagine being an accomplished singer, songwriter, actress, and dancer all by the age of 19? Canadian popstar Tate McRae has done it all, and it doesn’t look like she’s slowing down any time soon.

Tate began her recreational dance career at six years old, but she had already transitioned to competitive dance by the time she was eight. After deciding to take her dance career more seriously, Tate trained at some of the best dance schools in Canada including YYC Dance Project and the School of Alberta Ballet. Tate has collected many prestigious awards throughout her dance career such as Best Female Dancer at The Dance Awards in 2013, 2015, and 2018. She has collaborated with one of the top American dance manufacturers, Capezio, and appeared on the cover of Dance Spirit Magazine.

Tate’s dance career didn’t stop at competitions. In 2016, she performed in Justin Bieber’s Purpose World Tour concert in Calgary. In the same year, Tate was featured on the thirteenth season of So You Think You Can Dance, placing third in the final episode. She also performed on The Ellen DeGeneres Show as well as at the Teen Choice Awards and the American Music Awards.

Tate’s music career didn’t start until 2017 when she began her “Create With Tate” series. The series showcased original songs she wrote and recorded in her bedroom. Fans fell in love with the series, and more specifically a song called “One Day”, which attracted 39 million views. She then self-released the song as a single, which caught the attention of record labels. After signing with RCA Records in August 2019, Tate released her debut EP All the Things I Never Said in January 2020 and later announced her first headlining tour of North America and Europe.

In April of 2020, she released her single “You Broke Me First”. The song was an international hit, and it became her first single to reach the Billboard Hot 100 list. Tate performed her hit song at the VMAs pre-show, Jimmy Kimmel Live!, and The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. She received notable recognition on Billboard’s 21 Under 21 to Watch list and the Forbes 30 Under 30 list. After releasing many collaborations, Tate went on to release her second EP Too Young to Be Sad in March of 2021.

Just over a year later, in May 2022, Tate released her first studio album I Used to Think I Could Fly. The album was a smashing success, topping the charts internationally. Since releasing the album, Tate has announced her Are We Flying Tour, which will travel across North America. See if Tate is coming to a city near you!
