‘Succession: Social Media Reacts To “Connor’s Wedding”!

Wow! Succession just delivered one of the most shocking TV episodes of all time, and Social Media had a lot to say!

***MAJOR SPOILERS FOR SUCCESSION***

After two stellar episodes, it was clear that Succession Season 4 was something special. The Emmy-winning show has always been a high watermark for modern TV, but in its final season, it has been delivering some of the best television ever. This is especially true of last Sunday’s episode, “Connor’s Wedding,” which was shocking, heartbreaking, and yet still somehow funny.

For the first 15 minutes or so, the episode played like an average episode of Succession. Connor is getting married, Logan is making Roman fire Gerri, and Tom and Logan are on a flight to Sweden to meet with Mattson. These are all compelling storylines that could make for an excellent hour of Succession. However, 15 minutes into the episode, there was a shocking reveal, Logan Roy is dying on the plane, and he’s not going to make it. What followed was a masterclass in writing and acting as we saw every character trying to grapple with such a seismic shift.

Fans of the show fell head over heels for this episode, calling it one of the show’s very best.

As of now, “Connor’s Wedding” holds a 9.9 rating on IMDb, the highest in the show’s history, topping the 9.8 received by the season finales of both Seasons 2 and 3. It’s clear that this episode had a huge effect on people.

Every actor has had tons of praise for this episode, but Sarah Snook seems to be the stand-out as “Sarah Snook Emmy” has been trending since the episode aired.

Fans were also quick to point out the little details about the episode that make it all the more heartbreaking.

After the episode aired, it was also noticed that Logan’s fate was actually teased in this season’s poster, as the plane that Logan dies in can be seen in the reflection of the building.

Then of course there were the countless memes.

While Logan’s death felt inevitable, it was shocking how early in the season it came and how emotional the episode managed to be over the death of a character who was sometimes downright despicable.

With 7 episodes left in the series, we are no doubt in for a wild ride as the kids try to pick up the pieces after their father’s death.

Succession airs Sundays on HBO and HBO Max.
