Running Point Adds New Stars For Season 2

Running Point season 2 adds Robert Townsend, Ken Marino, Richa Moorjani, Jake Picking and more to join Kate Hudson in Netflix’s hit comedy.

Netflix has confirmed that its hit comedy Running Point is returning with fresh faces for Season 2. The new lineup of recurring guest stars adds even more comedy and drama to the Kate Hudson–led series, which became a breakout success in its debut season.

Among the new additions, Robert Townsend (The Bear, Before) takes on the role of Norm Stinson, a grouchy but talented veteran coach who knows how to get the best out of his players — even if his communication skills leave something to be desired. Ken Marino (The Residence, The Other Two) will play Al Fleischman, the self-proclaimed “toilet king of Orange County” with a determination to secure better courtside seats for the Los Angeles Waves.

Tommy Dewey (Casual, Saturday Night) joins as Magnus, the general manager of the Toronto Trappers, while Richa Moorjani (Never Have I Ever, Fargo) steps in as Aruna, the Waves’ sharp and fearless accountant who can maneuver around any financial obstacle. Jake Picking (Top Gun: Maverick, Hollywood) will play Tommy White, the Waves’ flashy new point guard, and Blake Anderson (Workaholics, Game Over, Man!) takes on the role of Leroy, Cam’s sober yet unpredictable companion. Duby Maduegbunam (Caught Up, Sistas) appears as Benson, the team’s newest player, and Aliyah Turner (Power Book III: Raising Kanan) will portray Zoé Debay, a confident former child star now stepping into the spotlight as a potential A-list actress.

Season 2 also elevates familiar faces from Season 1. Both Justin Theroux and Uche Agada, who previously appeared in recurring roles, have been promoted to series regulars. They join a returning cast that includes Kate Hudson, Drew Tarver, Scott MacArthur, Brenda Song, Fabrizio Guido, Chet Hanks, and Toby Sandeman.

Additional recurring players from Season 1 include Max Greenfield, Jay Ellis, Roberto Sanchez, Jon Glaser, Scott Evans, Rob Huebel, Marissa Reyes, and Justin Hurtt-Dunkley. Production for the new season recently began in Los Angeles.

When it premiered, Running Point spent five weeks on Netflix’s Global English Top 10 TV List and reached the Top 10 in 83 countries, cementing itself as one of the streamer’s most talked-about comedies.

Created by Mindy Kaling, Ike Barinholtz, and David Stassen, the series centers on Isla Gordon (Kate Hudson), who takes over as president of the Los Angeles Waves basketball franchise after her brother’s scandal forces him to resign. With skepticism from her family, the board, and the sports world, Isla must prove she is the right person for the job.

Season 2 continues under showrunner David Stassen, with executive producers Mindy Kaling, Ike Barinholtz, David Stassen, Kate Hudson, Howard Klein, Jeanie Buss, and Linda Rambis. The series is produced by Kaling International in association with Warner Bros. Television.

Fans can expect Season 2 of Running Point to bring more sharp comedy, behind-the-scenes basketball drama, and a star-studded cast lineup when it returns.
