Prime Video releases first trailer for Ballard, the newest Bosch spinoff starring Maggie Q as Detective Renée Ballard, premiering July 9.
Prime Video has just unveiled the intense first trailer for Ballard, the latest addition to the ever-expanding Bosch universe. Starring Maggie Q in the title role, the new crime drama will launch all ten episodes globally on Wednesday, July 9, streaming in over 240 countries and territories.
Ballard is based on Michael Connelly’s bestselling novels and follows Detective Renée Ballard (Q) as she takes charge of the LAPD’s newly formed and underfunded cold case division. With a mission to bring justice to long-forgotten crimes, Ballard tackles cases that have haunted the city for decades — including a string of murders by a serial killer and the mystery of an unidentified John Doe.
But these cold cases heat up quickly. As Ballard digs deeper, she discovers a disturbing conspiracy buried within the LAPD itself. With a team of volunteers and the help of retired detective Harry Bosch (played by Bosch veteran Titus Welliver), she navigates a minefield of professional resistance, personal trauma, and life-threatening stakes to uncover the truth.
The series boasts a strong ensemble cast including Courtney Taylor, John Carroll Lynch, Michael Mosley, Rebecca Field, Victoria Moroles, Amy Hill, Ricardo Chavira, Noah Bean, Alain Uy, and Hector Hugo.
Behind the scenes, Ballard is powered by an experienced production team. Executive producers include Michael Connelly, Henrik Bastin, Michael Alaimo, Kendall Sherwood, Trish Hofmann, Jet Wilkinson, and Melissa Aouate, with Jasmine Russ serving as co-executive producer under Fabel Entertainment. Jamie Boscardin Martin and Trey Batchelor also join as co-executive producers, alongside Theresa Snider for Hieronymus Pictures.
With its compelling lead, deep character drama, and dark conspiracies rooted in past crimes, Ballard is set to be a powerful new chapter in the Bosch legacy — and a must-watch for crime drama fans when it premieres on Prime Video this July.
