Only Murders in the Building season 5 will premiere September 9 on Hulu and brings back A-list stars, a new mystery, and more Arconia chaos.
The wait is almost over — Only Murders in the Building is officially back this fall. Hulu has announced that Season 5 of the Emmy-nominated mystery-comedy series will premiere on September 9, kicking things off with a three-episode drop. New episodes will then roll out weekly.
The new season picks up after the shocking and suspicious death of the Arconia’s beloved doorman Lester (played by Teddy Coluca). Refusing to accept the official story, Charles (Steve Martin), Oliver (Martin Short), and Mabel (Selena Gomez) dive headfirst into a brand-new investigation — one that leads them far beyond the familiar walls of their Upper West Side building.
This time, the trio’s sleuthing takes them into the darker corners of New York City and uncovers a twisted network connecting billionaires, old-school mobsters, and their increasingly enigmatic neighbors. As they unravel the truth, they’re also forced to confront a shifting city — one where old power is giving way to something even more dangerous.
Along with its iconic leads, Season 5 is packed with returning players and an impressive lineup of guest stars. Michael Cyril Creighton is back, and fans can also look forward to appearances by Meryl Streep, Da’Vine Joy Randolph, Richard Kind, Nathan Lane, Bobby Cannavale, Renée Zellweger, Logan Lerman, Christoph Waltz, Téa Leoni, Keegan-Michael Key, Beanie Feldstein, Dianne Wiest, Jermaine Fowler, and more.
Since its 2021 debut, Only Murders in the Building has become one of Hulu’s biggest hits. It’s been a consistent favorite with both critics and audiences, racking up nearly 60 Emmy nominations across its first four seasons. Most recently, it landed seven nominations for the upcoming 2025 Emmys, including Best Comedy Series.
The show was co-created by Steve Martin and John Hoffman, who also serve as executive producers alongside Martin Short, Selena Gomez, Dan Fogelman, Jess Rosenthal, Ben Smith, and JJ Philbin. The series is produced by 20th Television.
With a star-studded cast, another high-stakes mystery, and the same blend of heart and humor fans love, Season 5 promises to be another unforgettable chapter in the Arconia’s most thrilling podcast.
