Netflix reveals first look photos from People We Meet On Vacation, Brett Haley’s film adaptation of Emily Henry’s bestselling novel releasing globally January 9, 2026.
Netflix is bringing summer vibes to the new year with People We Meet On Vacation, which officially releases worldwide on January 9, 2026. The highly anticipated adaptation of Emily Henry’s bestselling novel has dropped its first look photos, giving fans a glimpse into the romantic journey of best friends-turned-maybe-something-more, Poppy and Alex.
Directed by Brett Haley, the film is set to capture the spirit of the beloved book with a blend of heartfelt romance and escapist adventure. “This is a movie that doesn’t just tell a love story. It makes you feel like you’ve gone on vacation right alongside Poppy and Alex,” Haley told Tudum.
The screenplay comes from Yulin Kuang along with Amos Vernon & Nunzio Randazzo, translating Henry’s witty, emotional storytelling to the screen. The project is backed by producers Wyck Godfrey, Marty Bowen, and Isaac Klausner, with Laura Quicksilver, Ted Gidlow, and Emily Henry herself serving as executive producers.
The film stars Emily Bader as Poppy and Tom Blyth as Alex, leading a cast that also features Sarah Catherine Hook, Lucien Laviscount, Miles Heizer, Jameela Jamil, Tommy Do, Lukas Gage, and Alice Lee, with veteran stars Molly Shannon and Alan Ruck rounding out the ensemble.
At its heart, People We Meet On Vacation tells the story of free-spirited Poppy and routine-loving Alex, who have been best friends for a decade despite living in different cities. Every summer, they reunite for vacations that keep their friendship alive. But as they begin to realize what has long been clear to those around them, the question becomes whether their bond has always been something deeper — and if they might actually be the perfect romantic match.
With its mix of wanderlust, heart, and humor, Netflix’s People We Meet On Vacation is set to bring warmth to winter when it arrives globally on January 9, 2026.
