Krysten Ritter Confirms Jessica Jones Return With Marvel

Krysten Ritter is officially back as Jessica Jones for Marvel, and says keeping the secret for two years was torture but worth the wait.

Krysten Ritter is officially stepping back into her iconic leather boots as Jessica Jones—and she’s finally allowed to talk about it. After two years of keeping Marvel’s secret under wraps, Ritter has confirmed her return to the role that made her a fan-favorite anti-hero. Her comeback will take place in Daredevil: Born Again season two, alongside longtime friend and co-star Charlie Cox, with the new episodes expected to premiere in 2026.

Though Marvel has remained tight-lipped, Ritter broke her silence during a recent appearance on the Bingeworthy podcast, where she revealed just how long she’s known she’d be returning to the MCU. “I’ve also known for so long, and keeping it a secret has been torture,” she said, emphasizing the lengthy wait. “It was a long time. It’s either been talked about, in the works, or in some state for a long time.”

Ritter explained how she constantly dodged questions about her Marvel future, learning how to deflect and play coy with hopeful fans. “If it gets out, it’s not because of me, because I have kept the secret!” she joked. “It’s just really special and exciting.”

Returning to Jessica Jones after more than half a decade felt surprisingly natural for Ritter. “It felt crazy—like no time had passed,” she said. “It felt celebratory; everybody was so excited. This is all due to fan demand. I really believe I’m back because the fans have been so vocal about Jessica and feeling so passionate about her.”

The Jessica Jones star was especially emotional about what the role means to her and to fans. “This is a character that I love and means so much to me, and means so much to so many women and men. And the fact that she gets to come back in this huge way is a thrill.”

Ritter also had glowing praise for Daredevil lead Charlie Cox, calling him “basically family” after over a decade of friendship and collaboration. “I adore Charlie,” she shared. “It was exciting. I think the fans are going to be very excited. There are a lot of really cool stunts.”

As for what lies ahead, Ritter says she’s open to all directions, but feels Jessica’s gritty, grounded vibe is a key part of her identity. “I think that she’s a great way in,” she explained. “She brings her own flavor and her own style… but I do love the grounded street element.”

Jessica Jones first debuted on Netflix in 2015 and ran for three acclaimed seasons, as well as the Defenders crossover event. Ritter’s return now places her squarely in the official Marvel Cinematic Universe, marking a rare and celebrated second chance for a superhero who was once thought to be retired.

Marvel fans, it’s happening. Jessica Jones is back—and she’s ready to kick ass once again.
