KPop Demon Hunters Stars Shine On The Tonight Show

The singers of Netflix’s record-breaking animated hit KPop Demon Hunters made their late-night debut on The Tonight Show with their first full live performance of the chart-topping single Golden.

Huntr/x brought the house down on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon as the stars of Netflix’s blockbuster animated film KPop Demon Hunters performed their smash hit Golden live for the very first time. The trio of EJAE, Audrey Nuna, and Rei Ami — who lend their voices to Rumi (Arden Cho), Mira (May Hong), and Zoey (Ji-young Yoo) in the film — took the stage on Tuesday night, marking their official late-night television debut.

The performance is the latest milestone in a whirlwind year for KPop Demon Hunters, which premiered on June 20 and quickly skyrocketed to the top of Netflix’s charts. By late August, the movie had become the streamer’s most-watched title of all time, surpassing Red Notice with a staggering 236 million views. Directed by Chris Appelhans and Maggie Kang, the animated feature follows a K-pop supergroup balancing global stardom with their secret double lives as demon slayers.

During their sit-down with Fallon, the trio got a surprise update: the film’s soundtrack had officially gone platinum. According to the most recent Billboard 200 albums chart, the KPop Demon Hunters soundtrack spent its second non-consecutive week at No. 1. Of the 102,000 equivalent album units earned in the latest tracking week, the record racked up an impressive 117 million on-demand official streams.

The breakout single “Golden” has been at the center of the soundtrack’s success, making history in September when it topped the Billboard Hot 100 for five straight weeks — the longest-running No. 1 by an animated act in chart history. The soundtrack has also placed four tracks in the Hot 100’s top ten, including “Your Idol” at No. 4, “Soda Pop” at No. 5, and “How It’s Done” at No. 8.

Huntr/x have been everywhere this fall, even stopping by Saturday Night Live on October 4. Appearing as themselves alongside host and musical guest Bad Bunny, the group performed an abbreviated version of “Golden.” The three-time Grammy winner joined in on the fun, playing a dorky superfan of the fictional girl group in a sketch that quickly went viral.

With chart dominance, record-breaking streaming numbers, and back-to-back late-night performances, KPop Demon Hunters and Huntr/x have solidified themselves as a true pop culture phenomenon.
