Hailee Steinfeld is set to star opposite Miles Teller in Winter Games, a Winter Olympics romance and redemption drama from Paramount.
Hailee Steinfeld is gearing up for the Winter Olympics—on the big screen. Fresh off her box office smash Sinners, Steinfeld is set to star opposite Miles Teller in Winter Games, a high-stakes sports drama from Paramount Pictures and Star Thrower Entertainment, Deadline reports. Paul Downs Colaizzo will direct, with a script he co-wrote alongside Pat Cunnane.
Set in the emotionally charged world of the Winter Olympics, Winter Games tells the story of a fiercely determined skier (played by Steinfeld) who’s constantly overlooked, and a once-great hockey player (Teller) whose self-sabotage has derailed his legacy. Both arrive at the Olympic Village at their personal breaking points. But their unexpected connection—equal parts romantic and redemptive—could either save them or derail everything they’ve worked for.
The project marks Steinfeld’s first major role since her performance in Sinners, which has become a cultural and commercial juggernaut. Co-starring Michael B. Jordan, the Warner Bros horror thriller has raked in $365 million globally, including a stunning $278 million domestically—making it the highest-grossing original film of the past 15 years and the fifth-biggest horror movie of all time. On top of its box office performance, Sinners is drawing awards buzz, with Steinfeld widely praised for her standout role.
The film also reignited Steinfeld’s music career. Her track “Dangerous,” featured on the Sinners soundtrack, marked her return to the charts and notched 4.7 million Spotify streams in its first month alone.
With studios clamoring to cast her following Sinners’ success, Steinfeld took her time selecting a follow-up—and ultimately landed on Winter Games for its emotional depth, dynamic co-star, and unique setting.
Teller, who also produces the film alongside Tim and Trevor White of Star Thrower, joins Steinfeld in leading what promises to be a character-driven, emotionally charged drama set against the icy grandeur of the Winter Olympics.
Steinfeld continues to build a powerhouse résumé. In 2023, she reprised her voice role as Spider-Gwen in Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, which earned over $690 million worldwide and was lauded by critics. She’ll return as Gwen in Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse, slated for release on June 4, 2027.
She also made her Marvel Cinematic Universe debut in 2021 as Kate Bishop in Disney+’s Hawkeye, starring opposite Jeremy Renner. Steinfeld is represented by CAA and Howard Fishman.
No release date for Winter Games has been announced yet, but with this star power and dramatic setup, it’s already shaping up to be a podium-worthy contender.
