Dominic Fike Released His First EP While In Prison

Fike had begun working on his EP, “Don’t Forget About Me,” when he was 21 years old. He was charged with battery of a police officer in what he has referred to as a “just a wrong place, wrong time, charge with my brother.” He was initially sentenced to house arrest, which he violated after two months, leading to finishing out his sentence in the Collier County Jail in his native Florida. Despite the challenging circumstances, Fike was determined to move forward with his music––using the sink as a makeshift instrument in prison along with his voice, he continued to create. He wound up releasing the EP in a rougher demo format than he initially intended, but his hit 3 Nights quickly climbed into the top 10 on the charts, and received a lot of radio play.
