Downton Abbey UK’s S:4 | Christmas Special E:9 | AfterBuzz TV AfterShow

AFTERBUZZ TV — Downton Abbey UK edition, is a weekly “after show” for fans of PBS’s Downton Abbey. In this show, host John Comerford breaks down the episode in which Almost everyone is in London for Rose’s coming-out and presentation as a debutante, including Cora’s mother Martha Levinson and brother Harold from the States, much to Violet’s displeasure, and Lord Gillingham and Mr Blake, still chasing Mary, and mutually antagonistic towards each other. Tom and Violet stay in Yorkshire to join the family later on. Tom has a chance meeting with Sarah Bunting, and they have dinner together in the local pub. Afterwards, Miss Bunting asks him to show her around at Downton Abbey. When they move onto the gallery, to have a better view of the hall, Thomas sees them. Tom tells him that it was nothing, but Thomas politely refuses to believe it. He is also very much irritated that he will be serving Tom until he goes to London and will have to call him by the appropriate title for an employer, even though they used to be colleagues and he used to be ranked above him — Tom being a mere chauffeur. Isobel is still being pursued by Lord Merton, and eventually she decides to go to Rose’s celebration Ball after all, as does Lord Merton. At a party, Rose’s indiscretion leads to card-sharp Mr Sampson stealing a letter from one of the Prince of Wales’s lady friends. When he learns of it, the Earl mobilises the family to get it back, and prevent scandal; he enlists the help of Bates, who uses his forging skills to get Mary into Sampson’s flat, but the letter is not found. Mrs Hughes finds a train ticket for York to London for the day Green died in Bates’s coat pocket; she tells Mary, and they agree to keep quiet, but later Mary has an attack of conscience, and thinks she should reveal it. Only when Bates picks Sampson’s pocket as he is leaving, and retrieves the letter, does she relent and burns the ticket. Edith has had her baby and left her in Switzerland, but she is regretting her decision. She ignores Lady Rosamund’s protestations and decides to revert to her original plan and give her daughter to a local farmer, Mr Drewe, who is very loyal to the Crawley family. Thomas still tries to pump Miss Baxter for scandal, but she resists, helped by Molesley’s support. When in London, Thomas informs his lordship that he saw Tom and Miss Bunting together, and Robert questions Tom about it. At the celebration Ball, Mary is startled to learn from Gillingham that the egalitarian Mr Blake is actually in line to inherit a huge estate from a cousin, so he is more suitable for her than she thought. Harold’s valet Mr Slade has a crush on Daisy, and invites her to move to the U.S. and be Harold’s personal cook, but she declines; Ivy volunteers for the position instead. The Countess offers the staff a fun day out; Carson’s suggestions are rejected as too dull and worthy, and Mrs Hughes tricks him into choosing the seaside. The episode ends with the two of them holding hands and paddling. There to help John is co-host Tamara Berg. It’s Downton Abbey UK’s “Christmas Special III” podcast!
