Anything posted by Ilona Maher (@IlonaMaher)

A member of the U.S. women’s rugby team, Maher has been posting Tik Toks since she first arrived in the Village. She’s been giving fans an inside look into what it’s really like being an Olympic athlete, like what they say to other competitors. Recently, she jumped on the testing Olympic beds trend.

A day in the life of an Olympian and med student.

Erica Ogwumike, a member of the Nigerian basketball team, is balancing the Olympics with medical school. She’s on break through the end of the Olympics, but she’s still completing work in between games. In her free time, Ogwumike visits the Olympic souvenir shop and plays ping pong in the rec room.

Laurie Hernandez and Akbar Gbajabiamila compare shoe sizes

During the behind the scenes of covering the Games, Laurie slides her foot next to Akbar’s. When he notices, he picks up her shoe asking her what size she wears. This is one Tik Tok you want to watch until the end.

Ariarne Titmus’s coach, Dean Boxall, reacts to her beating Katie Ledecky

A moment many people won’t soon forget, including the usher trying to calm him down. It quickly took off as a meme on Twitter and TikTok, with many adding music over the video. This one is simply titled “when the august bridge comes on.”

Types of people in the Village

Jess Fox, an Australian competing in the canoe slalom, posted a two-part series about the types of people in the Village. Commenters were tagging themselves as the TikTokers or the speed walker making their way down the sidewalk.

Rating the Olympic buildings

COVID restrictions mean each country gets their own building while they stay. To make the athletes feel more at home, they were decorated. Canada has a fake moose out front and Britain got an iconic telephone box. Rebecca Edwards and Polly Swann showed fans their favorites and ranked them. If you don’t see your favorite country, they posted a part two.

The photo crop challenge

Another rugby player, this time from Ireland, Harry McNulty tried his hand at this trend. At one point, he falls off the bed, only to be hoisted back up by a teammate to finish the video.
