All Of The New Movies You Should Watch Out For!

From ‘Wicked’ to ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ the Super Bowl gave us a lot of new movie trailers showing what we can look forward to seeing this year!

Wicked

With all of the buzz surrounding this film after Ariana Grande and Ethan Slater’s new relationship, people were ecstatic to receive this trailer during the Super Bowl. Starring Cynthia Erivo as Elphaba and Ariana Grande as Glinda, we were given a sneak peek into what this film is going to look like. Oz has definitely gotten an update from the original movie Wizard of Oz back in 1939, with the sets looking just as colorful and amazing as one would expect. Viewers were able to get a look at the iconic yellow brick road, the Wizard’s chambers and machine, as well as the school where Glinda and Elphaba meet. We also got a sneak peek of that iconic run in Defying Gravity with Cynthia Ervio sounding just as powerful and beautiful as the original Broadway song. Wicked is going to be broken down into a two part series, but the first installment is anticipated to be theatrically released on November 27th, 2024!

Deadpool and Wolverine

This was another trailer released during the Super Bowl and fans were very excited to see Deadpool make an iconic return to the film screen with fellow superhero Wolverine. With Ryan Reynolds reprising his role as well as Hugh Jackman, which comes as a surprise as after he put down the role following the film Logan in 2017. Coming six years after the last Deadpool movie, this one seems to pick up a little bit after the last one leaves off, opening the trailer with Deadpool celebrating his birthday before being taken away to work as a “Hero amongst heroes.” Doesn’t look like Wolverine will be having it though, with him appearing during the final frames of the trailer and brandishing his famous claws. Being directed by David Leitch, known for his work on Bullet Train and John Wick, viewers can expect an action packed film. It also helps that Leitch has worked as a stuntman before, so he knows a thing or two about a fight scene! This film is going to be released on July 26th, 2024.

Damsel

Millie Bobby Brown makes her return to the big screen in this new movie. Netflix released this trailer on February 13th, 2024 giving fans a little time to digest all of the content they were given during the Super Bowl. The film is directed by Juan Carlos Fresnadillo, best known for his film 28 Days Later. Slightly switching directions with this film, Damsel focuses on taking the “damsel in distress stereotype” and turning it on its head. Centering around a princess who is tricked into being a sacrifice, Millie Bobby Brown must fight to survive against an ancient evil. With stars such as Nick Robinson, Angela Bassett, and Robin Wright, fans are in for a treat with this movie. In this trailer, viewers got to see just how amazing this film looks with the special effects being carried out brilliantly and the costumes looking incredible. Fans are very excited to see Millie return to their screens. They can expect to see this film being released on Netflix, March 8th, 2024!

Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes

The newest and fourth installment into the Rise of the Planet of the Apes series released its trailer February 11th, 2024. The film is being directed by Wes Ball, known for his work on the Maze Runner films, so we hope this film is just as action packed! This chapter of the story begins after the reign of Caesar where the roles between humans and apes have been completely switched. In this new world, apes are the ruling class and hunt people just as we would wild animals. Threatened by her intelligence, one girl is a particular target, but when some start questioning the order of society, it may not be as easy to hunt her down. Starring celebs such as Freya Allen, William H. Macy, and Kevin Durand, fans can expect to see the full movie in theaters on May 10th, 2024.

A Quiet Place: Day One

Another franchise getting a revival this year is A Quiet Place. Directed by Michael Sarnoski, known for movies such as Pig, this edition explores the first day the monsters arrived on earth. Taking place in New York City, one of the loudest places in the world, the monsters seem to have a field day scooping up hundreds of people within the first seconds of the trailer. Leading the film is Lupita Nyong’o as Sam, with the film following her character’s story as she fights to survive and stay quiet. She is not the only star in this film with Joseph Quinn and Djimon Hounson joining her on screen. This film creates just as much tension as the first and second films, with one of the most tense scenes in the trailer being when Lupita’s character coughs, revealing their position. Following a new set of characters will be a fun new way to explore the Quiet Place universe and will allow a whole new perspective to the story we know and love. The film is expected to have a theatrical release on June 28th, 2024!

Twisters

Daisy Edgar Cooper and Glen Powell star in the newest reprisal of the 1996 film Twister. Following storm chasers who risk their life in order to test a new weather alert system, this film seems much scarier than its previous version with the storms being bigger and seemingly more dangerous than its counterpart. In one scene, Daisy Edgar Cooper can be seen being lifted up by a tornado while Powell fights desperately to get her grounded. While this film might seem like a sequel to the 1996 version, director Lee Issac Chung has confirmed that this is more of a “spiritual sequel” rather than a typical continuation of the original story. Chung is known for his work on sets such as Minari which had critical acclaim at events such as the Golden Globes. Fans can expect to see this film on July 19th, 2024 in theaters.

Sasquatch Sunset

Directors David Zellner and Nathan Zellner come together to tell the story of a family of Sasquatch, a new and hilarious idea for a film. With only four accredited cast members, Jesse Eisenberg, Riley Keough, Christophe Zajac-Denek, and Nathan Zellner, the film acts as a wildlife documentation of this family and their everyday life. The movie seems to not only focus on family – even though they are Sasquatch- but to also be a testament to the beauty of nature being filmed in the woods of Northern California. The film has already received a lot of buzz considering that it was a part of the official 2024 selection of Sundance. Viewers can expect to see this film released theatrically on April 19th 2024.

Drive-Away Dolls

Margaret Qualley and Geraldine Viswanathan star in Ethan Cohen’s new film Drive-Away Dolls. This is Ethan Cohen’s first solo movie, as his brother Joel Cohen was usually one of his collaborators and have recently split up to focus on different things. His first solo film follows two girls who, after finding a mysterious briefcase in the back of their rental car, get caught in the cross paths of a criminal organization and the police while on a roadtrip across Tallahassee. Reminiscent of the iconic movie Thelma and Louise, Drive-Away Dolls seems to be the perfect combination of humor, campiness, and action. Margaret Qualley and Geraldine Viswanathan are not the only stars in this movie! Colman Domingo, Matt Damon, Pedro Pascal, and many more are also going to be joining these leading ladies on the big screen. Expected to be released on the 23rd of February, viewers are marking their calendar and buying their tickets!

Despicable Me 4

Despicable Me 4 is yet another continuation of one of viewer’s beloved franchises coming seven years after the previous film in the series. In this installment, Gru adopts a new family member who loves to torture with his new father. However, when Maxime Le Mal escapes from prison, Gru and his family are forced to go on the run. The animation style of this film is definitely an upgrade from the previous films with the series, proving just how fair animation technology has come just within the past few years. Being directed by Chris Renaud, known for the other Despicable Me films, as well as Patrick Delage, known for the original Despicable Me and Sing 2. The film has many stars reprising their roles such as Steve Carrell, Kristin Wig, and Miranda Cosgrove. Introducing a new villain is the perfect way to make sure new and old viewers are going to have a blast watching this film on July 5th, 2024.
