Adam Devine’s Elmo Trick Has Parents Laughing Everywhere

Adam Devine reveals his hilarious Elmo impression parenting hack that keeps his toddler son listening, and the internet can’t get enough!

Adam Devine may be known for his wild comedic antics on The Righteous Gemstones and Workaholics, but it turns out he’s bringing that same energy to parenting—and it’s cracking everyone up.

In a recent appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, the actor opened up about a parenting tactic he’s been using with his 1-year-old son, Beau. As every parent knows, toddlers don’t exactly love following directions—and Adam Devine is no exception.

“He doesn’t like to listen to me or do the things that I would like for him to do,” he told Jimmy Fallon. “I’m like, ‘Don’t eat that, that’s Clorox. Like, definitely don’t eat that.’”

So what’s a dad to do when his child ignores him? Channel Elmo, of course.

That’s right. Adam Devine explained that his son is obsessed with the Sesame Street character—so naturally, he leaned into it with a full-blown impression. “I’ve taken over control of your daddy’s body! Elmo’s your daddy now,” he said in a pitch-perfect voice that had Fallon stunned. The host praised it as “amazing,” and he wasn’t alone.

Fans flooded social media with praise for the genius trick. One user wrote, “OMG his Elmo impression would have fooled me if I closed my eyes 😍🔥👏.” Another commented, “I love Adam. He’s the absolute best,” while one hilariously added, “I’m impressed and terrified.” Same.

The Workaholics creator admitted that his son might actually prefer Elmo to him. “I don’t know if I like that guy that much. He’s always telling me to not lick shoes,” he joked, imagining what Beau might be thinking.

Although Adam Devine and his wife, actress Chloe Bridges, try to limit how much TV their toddler watches, it’s clear that Elmo is the reigning king of their household screen time. Still, Adam Devine confessed that he sometimes bends the rules.

“My wife walked in on me watching the Menendez Brothers show,” he laughed. “They’re getting blown up by shotguns and I’m like, ‘He’s too young to remember this, right?’ Don’t do that to Daddy.”

Classic Adam Devine—balancing fatherhood, comedy, and a bit of chaos in the most Devine way possible.
