5 Most Iconic BBC One Live Lounge Covers!

From Harry Styles to Hozier, just about every artist has done an iconic cover on BBC One. Here are five of the most interesting ones to come out of the Live Lounge!

Stick Season – Olivia Rodrigo

Olivia Rodrigo has taken music by storm since she hit the scene back in 2021 with the release of her first studio album Sour. Since then she has been a powerhouse, winning three Grammys as well as releasing a second studio album Guts. In her Live Lounge cover, she sung the famous song “Stick Season” by Noah Kahan garnering over 6 million views. Using a similar backing to Noah Kahan, Olivia allows her voice to let Noah Kahan’s creative lyrics shine. In return, Noah Kahan sung her song “Lacy” during his Live Lounge performance.

What Was I Made For – Troye Sivan

Troye Sivan first covered Billie Eilish’s iconic song “What Was I Made For” back in July of 2023 on TikTok. It exploded gaining 1.5 million views and over 100 thousand likes. The singer then reprised his cover on the Live Lounge in October, giving an amazing and heartfelt performance. In this version, Troye uses a more synthesized version of the piano to give it a more serene atmosphere. The unique instrumental sets it apart from the original version while not overshadowing how incredible Billie Eilish is. The video has gained over 1.3 million views and has been fan approved online.

Use Somebody – Paramore

The iconic band Paramore performed on the Live Lounge back in 2009, but the performance has long surpassed the initial release. Hayley Williams and her band strips down the original sound of the song and plays it acoustic instead. Paired with Williams’ powerful vocal performance, this rendition of the song has lasted the test of time. Unfortunately, this iconic cover is not available on the official YouTube of BBC One and instead has been reuploaded to YouTube multiple times. On one re-upload @creativecredence850 comments “…I remember watching this the day it was uploaded 12 years ago. I loved it so much I used one of those dumb youtube to mp3 converters and ripped it onto my bootleg MP3 player haha. Haven’t thought about this cover in at least 8 years. Thanks for the flashback.” The most viewed re-upload of this cover has over 2 million views, which goes to prove that fans just can’t get enough of this beautiful cover.

Do I Wanna Know – Hozier

Hozier is a notable artist within the industry releasing four studio albums, the latest being Unearth Unreal on August 18th, 2023. With this cover, Hozier strips the song down and gives it a much more folkier ambience. With the slower instrumental, Hozier allows the audience to focus on Arctic Monkeys’ expert lyricism. Even though it was released seven years ago, this is definitely still a fan favorite.

Juice – Harry Styles

When this cover was uploaded, the internet exploded. Being the most viewed video published to BCC One’s Live Lounge YouTube page. Released four years ago, the video sits at over 53 million views. Even now, the first result when typing Juice into the search bar on YouTube is “Juice Harry Styles” Using a more instrumental backing to the lyrics, Harry Styles added a new layer of funk to the track. Fans absolutely devoured this cover, posting it all over social media.

Live Lounge has released hundreds of beautiful covers, and continues to release amazing performances from a variety of different artists. We can’t wait to see which cover they release next!
