5 ‘Dance Moms’ Moments Turned Tik Tok Trends!

Tik Tok is once again giving us nostalgia as some of the most iconic moments from Lifetime’s hit reality series, Dance Moms, are being turned into trends!

Dance Moms, a Lifetime hit reality series premiering all the way back in 2011, focused on a group of moms and their daughters as they navigated the world of competition dance under the direction of Pittsburgh dance instructor, Abby Lee Miller. The show was a smash hit, averaging multi-million views per 1-hour episode, launching its’ cast members to the spotlight. The show officially wrapped in 2019, however, its iconic moments have lived on. To this day, various Dance Moms-related moments and sounds have surfaced into Tik Tok trends. Let’s take a look at 5 of the best!

“Boss Ladies” Routine

In Season 6, this routine was famously known as original members, Maddie and Mackenzie Ziegler’s last group performance before they exited the show. “Boss Ladies”, choreographed by Guy Groove, was a fun, high-energy piece that viewers were not used to seeing the girls perform, which is why it still resonates on Tik Tok today. Fans are putting their dancing skills to the test by attempting the opening part of the routine. Many of the cast members including JoJo Siwa, Nia Sioux, Kendall Vertes, Brynn Rumfallo, and Kalani Hilliker decided to take a trip down memory lane and show viewers how it’s done.

“And Then There Were Two” with Christi Lukasiak and Kelly Hyland

Any Dance Moms fan knows that Lukasiak and Hyland were the iconic best-friend duo throughout the show, always giving us viewers the content we needed. Tik Tok users are now imitating the iconic conversation taken from a scene where just the two of them were left sitting in what Lukasiak often referred to as “dance jail”. Lukasiak and Hyland also found this trend amusing and recreated it themselves.

“Whether It Takes 2 Hours or 4 Hours” with Abby Lee Miller

A large aspect of Dance Moms was the amount of time and commitment coach Abby Lee Miller expected from her young dancers. A clip resurfaced of Miller saying that “whether it takes two hours or four hours”, she expects her dancers to remain dedicated to perfecting that week’s routine. Fans got a kick out of this clip and created a Tik Tok sound to use in various scenarios. Cast members such as JoJo Siwa, Brooke Hyland, Paige Hyland, and Christi Lukasiak participated in this trend themselves.

“All I Wanna Do Is Just Stay At Home and Eat Chips” with Mackenzie Ziegler

Dance Moms fans know that the moms were not the only ones who had entertaining moments on the show. The girls, as young as they were, often had funny one-liners themselves. On Tik Tok, Mackenzie Ziegler, the youngest of the original competition team, paid homage to her famous line: “I don’t wanna go on Broadway, all I wanna do is stay at home and eat chips”. Fans loved the nostalgia and followed suit by using that sound, often holding bags of chips.

“I Cut My Finger On My Mom’s Ring” with Cathy Nesbitt-Stein and Vivi-Anne Stein

A key plotline from Dance Moms was the ALDC’s rivalry with Candy Apple’s Dance Center from Canton, Ohio. Cathy Nesbitt-Stein portrayed the direct competitor, known for her over-the-top demeanor and often having funny remarks and comebacks towards Miller and the ALDC moms. However, her daughter Vivi-Anne Stein stole the show in a scene, where she appeared to cut her finger on her mother’s ring. Tik Tok users loved this clip and reenacted the scene themselves.
