5 Crazy Facts About Tom Cruise

Tom Cruise has done some crazy things throughout his career, but we’re naming the top 5!

Tom Cruise is known for his Top Gun & Mission Impossible roles, which have propelled him to superstardom. He’s also known for doing his own crazy stunts and taking risks to make a shot happen. Heck, the guy just signed the dotted line to shoot a movie in outer space at the International Space Station. Cruise is known to push the limits, that is until it comes to COVID-19.

Cruise broke news this week when he decided to let crew members on a movie set know how he felt about them breaking COVID-19 rules. Today we are naming the top 5 things Tom has said while on set and what exactly happened this week.

Number 1: Mission: Impossible 7 Set Rant

The Sun released audio of Cruise shouting at crew members for breaking social distancing rules. In the recording of Cruise, he can be heard claiming, “We are the gold standard!” He then went on to explain why, saying, “They’re back there in Hollywood making movies right now because of us. Because they believe in us and what we’re doing. I’m on the phone with every f***ing studio at night, insurance companies, producers, and they’re looking at us and using us to make their movies. We are creating thousands of jobs, you motherf***ers. I don’t ever want to see it again. Ever!”

In today’s times, social distancing isn’t something that should be taken lightly. Covid-19 is still spreading rapidly, and numbers are rising daily, so we can’t help but side with Tom on this one. After all, he is defending people for the greater good!

Number 2: Tom Cruise and…..Aladdin?

In 1992 Disney’s Aladdin made its way to the box office. When animators were coming up with the look of Aladdin, they turned to the face of none other than Tom Cruise. Ever notice how Aladdin’s hair and face strongly represent Tom? Animators were trying to make Aladdin likable, and they thought that Tom’s face was the perfect fit for such a character.

Number 3: Tom Cruise Soul Train Moves

In an interview, Tom said as a kid, he would watch Soul Train. He noticed how the men of the show would use their dance moves to impress the ladies. Tom would spend his time memorizing routines and moves so that he, too, could impress the ladies.

Number 4: No Action Figures

Although animators used Cruise’s look for the Aladdin film, Tom refused to be an action figure.

Ever wonder why you’ve never seen an action figure of Mission Impossible’s Ethan Hunt? It’s because, since the beginning of his career, Cruise has continuously denied requests for his likeness to be made into any action figures.

Number 5: Tom Cruise Saved Ray-Ban From Going Bankrupt.

Ray-Ban is one of the most recognizable sunglasses one could find at a sunglasses store. Though they are highly popular and in demand now, that wasn’t the case in 1981. Ray-Ban took a little of what money they had and paid for product placement in Risky Business for a cameo. Thanks to the continuous appearance of the shades, Ray-Ban was able to enjoy a 40 percent increase in sales and a continuous partnership with some of Cruise’s movies for the next 5 years.
