What Fans Think Of The 2023 Oscar Nominees!

The Oscar nominees have been announced and the fan reviews have been all over the place! Let’s check out what the fans are saying about those who may take home gold at The 95th Academy Awards.

This year’s list is out! Yes, The Oscar nominations for all of our favorite categories have been announced, and some big hitters snagged one, including Austin Butler, Cate Blanchett, Everything Everywhere All at Once, and more! Let’s take a look at what fans are saying!

Let’s start with snubs. Fans are not happy with Viola Davis not receiving a nomination for her performance in The Woman King. Viola Davis played Nanisca, The general of an all-female army known as the Agojie. This would have been Davis’s fifth nomination and potentially second Oscar win.

Danielle Deadwyler was also defended by the masses when she was kept out of this year’s nominations. Deadwyler played Mamie Till-Mobley in Till, a biopic about the life of Emmett Till, his murder, and the trial afterward. Deadwyler did an incredible job as the mother of Emmett Till, but it was not enough to get her into this year’s list of nominees.

Although fans were not happy about some of their favorite performances being snubbed, there was one film they were very pleased to see in so many categories on the nomination list, Everything Everywhere All at Once. Fans have been praising not only the nomination for the film itself but the actors and actresses as well.

This year there were also a few snubs and surprises in the directing categories. Fans believe James Cameron was snubbed for Avatar: The Way of Water, especially since the film was received with so much praise. Cameron has also directed 3 of the top grossing films of all time; regardless, he was kept out of this year’s nominations.

There were also no nominations for women in the “best directing” category, which resulted in outrage from the fans. Some of the women who people are saying were snubbed include Sarah Polley (Women Talking), Gina Prince-Bythewood (The Woman King), and Maria Schrader (She Said).

There are certainly some mixed reviews about this year’s Oscar nominees. Fans are upset about snubs in pretty much every category yet are excited about some of the first time nominees.

Whether or not The Oscars got it completely right, there are definitely deserving actors and actresses in the lineup. We get to see some exciting first timers, and reminisce on some disappointing missed opportunities for our favorite actors and actresses. Despite being snubbed, their performances will always live with us, and their films will continue to impact us. For now, we will watch someone’s Oscar dreams come true on Sunday, March 12, 2023, on ABC.
