AFTERBUZZ TV – On the heels of UFC 174: Johnson vs. Bagautinov, the UFC AfterBuzz team (Kris Kloss, Daria Berenato, George Hermoza, and Jay Tan) is joined in-studio by Systems Training Center Marcus Kowal and newly-signed UFC featherweight fighter Brian Ortega, who debuts in the octagon on July 23 in San Jose, CA. Besides breaking down the main card matches from UFC 174, the team discusses Brian’s journey from humble fighting roots to his entry into the UFC, the synergy between jiu jitsu and surfing, fighting and stand-up comedy, and common experiences in voluntary tasering.
Among the matches at UFC 174, UFC flyweight champion Demetrious ‘Mighty Mouse’ Johnson successfully defended his title against fast-rising Russian star Ali ‘The Puncher King’ Bagautinov. In the co-main event, Rory ‘Ares’ MacDonald defeated Tyron ‘T-Wood’ Woodley in a bullying clinic of strikes, maintaining MacDonald’s position as a top-ranked welterweight, while Ryan ‘Darth’ Bader dominated against Rafael ‘Feijao’ Cavalcante. Prior to that, Andrei Arlovski returned to the UFC after a six-year hiatus to defeat Brendan ‘Big Brown’ Schaub in a close split decision. Opening the show, Ovince Saint-Preux submitted Ryan ‘The Big Deal’ Jimmo by kimura armlock.
