Trainwreck: Poop Cruise Sets June 24 Premiere

Trainwreck: Poop Cruise premieres June 24, uncovering the disastrous voyage that left thousands stranded without power, food, or flushing toilets.

The nightmare at sea that captured international headlines is finally coming to screen. Trainwreck: Poop Cruise, a shocking new documentary, will premiere June 24, exposing the full scope of a luxury cruise gone horrifically wrong.

What began as a four-day getaway from Galveston, Texas to Cozumel, Mexico quickly spiraled into chaos for the 4,000 passengers and crew aboard. After a fire broke out in the engine room, electrical cables powering the ship’s essential systems were destroyed. The vessel was left powerless—unable to move, refrigerate food, operate lighting or air-conditioning, and most disturbingly, flush toilets.

With no working plumbing, raw sewage began to leak across various areas of the ship, creating a health and safety disaster. As conditions worsened and food supplies diminished, passengers grew restless, frustrated, and eventually revolted. What was once a dream cruise devolved into a living nightmare, as the cruise line scrambled to contain the disaster and the media seized on the sensational story. Soon, it was being dubbed worldwide as “The Poop Cruise.”

Directed by James Ross, Trainwreck: Poop Cruise is the latest installment in the acclaimed Trainwreck documentary series, known for unflinching deep-dives into public catastrophes. The film is produced by RAW, with executive producers Sheun Adelasoye De Nicola, Alexander Marengo, and Tim Wardle, alongside William Swann and Casey Feldman of BBH. Ben Rumney serves as series producer.

Backed by compelling firsthand accounts, raw footage, and expert insights, Trainwreck: Poop Cruise promises an intense, unfiltered look at the terrifying breakdown of what should have been a luxury vacation. It’s a story of corporate crisis, human endurance, and a disaster that quite literally stank.

Trainwreck: Poop Cruise premieres June 24 on Netflix.
